this going back to Gio-Lilly tonight is a key sign I think.

Gio-Holl and Gio-Boosh were both disasters. If Gio-Lilly are right back to awesome tonight Keefe is gonna have a tough time breaking them up again.

And then we're down to a battle of two options going forward imo:

Rielly - Boosh
Muzz - Brodie

or

Rielly - Brodie
Muzz - Holl
Could get extra spicy next week when Sandin is back. I have him above Muzzin, Holl & Boosh on the overall depth chart, but the left side is pretty set.

I am not a big fan of Keith Jones, but he just compared Bunting to Mike Knuble, and I really love that comparison.

It's one of the reasons I want him to stay on that line into the playoffs, even if he's gone dry for goals. He really grinds it out for that line and doesn't look really out of place.

As I stated in todays GDT I'd prefer the 4th line to consist of Clifford and Simmonds centred by Blackwell. I hope they have a good showing tonight, but I like the energy and forecheck they bring (not to mention some protection come playoffs if some cross the line).

Liked their first audition in a win over Tampa. Hope they build on it here tonight. Exactly what we need on a playoff roster with Kase out hurt and Knies declining to come aboard this season

Aye. Is Knies officially out this season? If so, too bad.

You dont like some people at work. Is that your problem or the person you dont likes problem. And why go out like that and thrash a former teammate? Is that a teammate you want? W Nylander dont seem to be selfish in that regard anyway.

M Nylander was better before the stars arrived. When he got more ice time, when he was the go to guy. He always took to long shifts. Because he loved to play. This might have rubbed teammates the wrong way. The national teammates took him for what he was and made fun of that part.

What I am saying is. W Nylander is best when he get to play a lot, and is put in a place were he dictates the play. Some players you should just let loose. He is one of those players.

I belive the team would be better with Tavares up Bunting down, Nylander up dictating second line. Just like "here you go, do your thing, but this is your responsability now.". Not having to adjust to Tavares will do wonders.

Could be wrong, but i would at least try it once. If Tavares cant play better than Bunting or as good, then just hand the C to Matthews and put JT on the 4th line.
OK OK dude you're right, it's what you believe man, so roll with it because when you need to be right yer right:laugh:

I'm sold on...

Reilly - Bush
Gio - Lily
Brodie

#6 is a fight between Muzzin, Holl, and Sandin. I think Holl has worked himself out of that, so just Muzzin and Sandin.

Will Sandin be available?

So u belive W Nylander is better when he play less with less responsability and with a tighter leach, not playing to his strenghts etc. Ok u roll with that.

Muzzin is complete garbage, his legs are gone, he gets walked by almost every game, take that goal by Carlson for example.

Muzzin's a #6 at this point in his career, the injuries have put a toll on him.

Over the last five games, Nylander is getting more and more ice time, while Tavares is getting less. In the three games where Tavares has more than Nylander, he's been a - , while in the two where he's had less, he's a +.

For Nylander, I think it's not adding a leash, but removing an anchor.

Since Tavares and Willy split:

EV

Tavares 3.12p60, 59.8xgf%
Mikky 3.14p60, 54.6xgf%
Kerfoot 1.92p60, 58.6xgf%

Nylander 3.66p60, 61.3xgf%
Engvall 2.36p60, 51.1xgf%
Kampf 0.93p60, 52.5xgf%

(note: Willy missed one of these games)

need to use naturalstatrick for the line splits by date....

Since the split:

Mikheyev-Tavares-Kerfoot: 62.7xgf% (+8.7rel), 83.5gf% (+25.5rel)
Engvall-Kampf-Nylander: 56.7xgf% (+2.0rel), 64.0gf% (+6.2rel)

Decided to just say Kase and Sandin are toast and look at the plausible line combos for the playoffs. Obviously all the 4th line samples and most of the 3rd pair samples are too tiny to see much but thought I'd look anyways:

Agree on the Carlson goal but what other example can you point to? …

Liljegren is an absolute must in the playoffs. He can do it all. Look at some of Liljegren's chances in the last several games. He was down near the goal crease shooting. He can hold his own in his end too.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Engvall - Tavares - Mikheyev
Kerfoot - Blackwell - Nylander
Kase - Kampf - Simmonds

Rielly - Lyubushkin
Muzzin - Brodie
Giordano - Liljegren

I think this is perfect.

1st line- nothing to be said, they've proven to be great together.

2nd line- let those 2 be the work horses for Tavares. Mikheyev's quickness offsets JT's sluggishness.

3rd line- we've seen Kerfoot and Nylander look great together. Blackwell provides the grit which Nylander lacks. I wonder if Blackwell and Kerfoot have any Harvard chemistry left over.

4th line- Kase and Kampf play well together, and I think we keep Simmonds in the lineup, just in case.

The defense looks ideal, I definitely prefer Holl on the bench.

5. Muzzin 18:36
6. Holl 18:21
7. Boosh 15:32

It will be:

Reilly - Brodie
Gio - Lil
Muzzin - Holl

If we start losing the physical battle and/or one of Lil/Holl have a poor game, Boosh will come in.

Sandin or Boosh will come in if Muzzin is having a hard go (depending if we need offense of defense/muscle). But I expect Muzzin to have the longest leash.
