Yeah looks like today’s results won’t be as favorable to CBJ as yesterday
Pens hosed us today, they had a 3-2 lead early in the third period and then screwed the pooch down the stretch. Still hoping the fading Isles lose tonight and then come back on Tuesday with a strong regulation win vs the Rangers. Tough position we are in, we are chasing two teams above us while feeling the heat of the teams right below us in the standings.

In the end, we just have to take care of our own business. Those two Detroit games are looming larger and larger. To add to the drama, they are coached by the guy we almost hired as head coach here before pulling the trigger on Evason. I am ecstatic with how things worked out for us and wouldn't change it but this does add to the storyline of these two games as he has really turned around the Wings mid-season.

Lots of potential 3 point games tonite, so no overtime today please

Carolina-Montreal
Pittsburgh-Flyers
Rangers-Islanders
Toronto-Boston
Detroit-Minnesota
Florida-Nashville

Leafs beat Boston in OT after being down 3-0

Rangers destroyed Islanders

Wings are tied with Wild in the third
Not been an ideal night for us (outside of our own win). Leafs coming back to win in OT and keeping Bruins to one loser point is a win for us. And right now Wings leading 3-2 with <5:00 to play :( Come on Wild. Wild had a 2-0 lead in this game.

Guess we’ll have to do it ourselves. These Detroit games and the Ottawa games later in the year may be the tipping point

If only we didn’t blow that game to Detroit in January

On the bright side, the Wild continue to slip down the standings and their 1st round pick has gone from the 4th lowest pick to the 8th lowest pick and there is a decent chance they continue to side down the standings and the Jiricek 1st round pick may becomes quality pick/asset to use.

I feel so dirty rooting for the Pens. Awful, just awful feeling. :D

Let's go Isles, Carolina, Toronto and Minnesota (oh, and of course the Pens)
Carolina, Minnesota and Isles did not help us. Fortunately, Toronto yes.

However, if Carolina continue, it may not play in the PO. 6 points is only three wins and one loss in overtime (because has more wins). Obviously I didn't watch that game, but I'm willing to bet the Canes played dull, just skated, skated hard, and played hard, many hits, battles at the corners, boards.

Three games tonight and one is very important for us and the other one is interesting depending on the outcome.

Jets @ Sens: Jets have won ten in a row (5 vs WC teams and wins vs Caps, Canes, Isles and Habs) so I completely expect the streak to end tonight against the Sens because...well.. this is the one game we really need them to win the most.

Devils @ Avs: Avs have lost both games coming off the break to the Preds and Blues. Not a good look. They do get the Devils in Colorado so fingers crossed. If Avs do win this game then the race for the #3 Metro spot does get a little more interesting.

Nichushkin is returning so Avs will be stronger. Also Nečas is playing good with MacKinnon.

Scoreboard watching for Thursday Feb 27th...
  • CBJ @ Wings: not really scoreboard watching since we are likely all actually watching this one
  • Isles @ Bruins: Let's go Isles LOL. I have lost all hope that the Isles will win another important game all season. They need to fire Lou before he can do anymore damage to their roster, clear out their aged roster, acquire draft picks and young up and coming prospects and do a full on rebuild. It is time for Lou to retire (my two best friends are Isles fans, this is not just me speaking...this is them too.
  • Sharks @ Habs: Let's go Sharks. This is another game I have zero hope for, the Sharks have one win in their last ten and are spiraling. Habs have won both their games since the break.
  • Sabres @ Canes: Let's go Sabres. A month ago there is no way I think this game could be relevant to us but the Canes have not had success since their blockbuster trade. If they lose tonight and we win...we'd be four points behind them in the standings...that's nuts!
  • Flyers @ Pens: Let's go Pens. I feel like we just saw this movie and it was a major flop (6-1 Flyers). Pens are in last place in the EC even behind the Sabres and it's not even close (points percentage-wise) and are a conference worst-49 goal differential and again it's not even close: next worst is Boston at -27.
Basically I see no help coming from any of the other games tonight. If you want something done right you gotta do it yourself. Tonight...the CBJ are Obi-Wan-Kenobi...our only hope.
