There is no real reason to be sad. Most players never finish with the team that drafted them. His accomplishments should be celebrated by any hockey fan because he has been nothing but a class act his entire career.

Wish he was with the team in his prime, but love that he is with us now.

I've grown to love Jason Spezza on the Leafs but I find it so ironic that when he broke in he was such an unlikeable Ottawa Senator hot shot.

Disregarding his limited minutes, when's the last time he's been this good or complete of a player? His pts/60, goals/60, & faceoff % is definitely up there; I always remembered him being primarily offensive too.

Such a great leader & loyal to Toronto, I'll feel so bad if they don't win something for this guy. He's not just like any of those old vets coasting through hoping to catch a ride to the Stanley Cup... not that they all are but how often do you see something like this from a vet with only a few career fights:

I would love to see him get a consistent shot on the top two lines. Somewhere in the range of 15-18 minutes a night. His hands are vision are still top 6 quality.

Spezza is definitely turning into some kind of folk hero. What a legend. He could end up player over 2oo games with the leafs and getting something like 100 points. What a nice feather in your cap to end a career becoming a leaf alumni with that stature.

I wish selfishly for myself and my Leafs to win a cup, but in all honesty after all he's done, after all the discount contracts, all the kind words of a leader and helping the AHL players out. Baby really deserves a cup, I hope we can accommodate him.
