Trade: [PIT/SEA] DK Metcalf to Steelers for 2nd rounder, flip of 6th rounder for 7th rounder - Metcalf signs giant extension with PIT

Whose Pittsburgh QB?
They have not signed either Wilson or Fields. Both are free agents.

I thought SEA would be able to get a #2 and likely 4th. They paid more to get Leonard Williams (though he was 90% retained by NYG). This is pick #52. SEA has pick 50 as well.

So, Seattle goes into the draft with #18, #50, #52 (Pitt), #82, plus either #68 or #73 (I'm guessing #73 which is from the Jets for Adams).

Pitt typically doesn't do massive guaranteed contracts. Curious to see what DK's real money comes out to be. Is is $90 mill basically guaranteed? (like year 3 for the '27 season becomes guaranteed at the start of the '26 league year? Would mean, if cut to save the '27 season money, PItt would have to eat the '26 season money). Not fully guaranteed, but basically guaranteed.

I thought JSN really emerged as the stand out WR last season, more so than Metcalf.
DK draws S attention, but is going to be a massive change for JSN in 2025. Lost both WR on the 3WR sets. Seattle needs to add someone, particularly someone who can stretch the field.

JSN is more a route runner with good not great size. Lockett was the fast, good route runner. DK was their speed, size guy. Complimented each other well.

Bobo is the WR4 and he's a size/possession type guy. Young is WR5 and hasn't really shown much coming out of a very small school.

Plenty of veteran options, but will see what they do at QB to attract someone to sign.

Figure, they do either DL/OL in round 1. Go DL/OL in rd 2 and look to add a weapon or LB/CB with the other pick. Weapon and/or back 7 of the D with both rd 3 picks. Should get another RB on Day 3 as I don't see them paying Walker when his contract is done after 2025 and this is a very deep RB class.

Unless they really like a QB, be it Dart, Ewers, Slough, or whomever, I don't bother drafting a QB on day 2, unless they are truly going to invest in the guy. Fine to take a chance on a day 3 guy. But, I'd rather use day 2 picks on positions that they need help on and the guy can actually play.

$30 mill AAV, but it's likely structured to be a 3 year contract realistically. I don't think it will be like Adams where it averaged $28 mill but he really got $22.5 mill per over the 3 years. As it was backloaded at $36 mill per for years 4/5. Adams was 29, DK is 27.

Most likely it's fully guaranteed for 2, but year 3 may become fully guaranteed at the start of year 2 in March 2026. Which basically makes it a 3 year deal vs a 2 year deal. Otherwise, it's a very expensive 1 year deal.

I said this earlier. Is there enough footballs to go around with those 2? This is definitely un Steeler like.
I look at it as whether these 2 guys skillset complement each other? DK is a size and speed guy. Thus to be effective like DK was in Seattle he needed to have a good route runner opposite him. Which Lockett was. What are Pickens strengths? They have a solid TE.
