With MP gone, that bottom four is looking rough. I can see him getting top four minutes there in a trial the rest of the season. The clear #3 is Grzelcyk and after that…woof. Desharnais, Shea, POJ, St. Ivany, the carcass of Graves, rookie Pickering…yeah…great spot for the player here.

He was having a truly awful run of play for us up until we waived him. I have mixed feelings on losing him for free. It helps Utah in the short-term, but I think he bounces back and sticks in the NHL again.

This is purely stat watching, but Koyla seems like he had a really solid season with the Coyotes as a 20 year old back in 2021-2022. It wasn't anything spectacular, but playing 16 minutes a night with good analytics (+6.78% xGF%Rel) and a neutral +/- on a horrid Coyotes team looks pretty good to me.

I don't mean to use +/- as if it's a stat that means anything, but if you're at a +0 in 32 games when your team had a -103 goal differential over the full season looks pretty impressive to me. Especially out of a 20 year old rookie defenseman.

Curious if he just never caught on beyond that or if it was just a flash in the pan.
