I don’t think any one is upset about the trade. We just know how it’s going to end with our jack*** coach.wow, I can't believe Pen fans are complaining about this deal. Give him to us (isles)....gladly give you a 4th.

You're wrong. Moves like this don't appreciably help this team much at all. It's a low risk deal for PIT.Dubas seems to be doing everything possible to avoid driving his team into a rebuild.
In a system that is a disaster defensively for a player that isn't good at digging in the corners or defensively, this should end well. Sullivan is an absolute f***ing moron of a coach.Doesn't sound like Pens fans are optimistic about their coach either lol but if Tomasino gets ice time with decent linemates and is allowed to actually play like a scoring winger I think he'll be a solid NHLer.
Honestly I feel bad for the guy because he keeps getting coaches who don't want to play young guys to start with and if you don't run around like a chicken with your head cut off hitting everything that moves then you aren't doing it right. In a system that is a disaster defensively for a player that isn't good at digging in the corners or defensively, this should end well. Philly Tomatoes is going to quit and sell used laptops on Craigslist after Sullivan is done with him.
Yeah, the difference with Tomasino and Tolvanen to me is that by the end of his time with the Preds, Tolvanen was actually playing a pretty respectable physical and back-checking game. The Preds didn't seem to recognize this or acknowledge it in any way. But nevertheless, Tolvanen had adapted to the point where he absolutely could fill a bottom-6 role instead of needing to be a top-6 sniper only.Honestly I feel bad for the guy because he keeps getting coaches who don't want to play young guys to start with and if you don't run around like a chicken with your head cut off hitting everything that moves then you aren't doing it right.
I felt Fabbro would do well in Columbus, just seemed like a decent situation for him, sadly for Tomasino I think he is just going to get more of the same.
I think on the right team and given a chance to actually play some steady minutes with some talent he would probably come around and do well. Sadly for him he has always been stuck on the 4th line or with that type of player.
Doesn't sound at all like the Pens under Sullivan. In Nashville, our coaches would rather play a 10/10 kind of veteran AHL tweener, or chase old declining UFAs to fill that lineup spot. I think it's the frustration that the Preds aren't finding any better results with their choices than they would just keeping and utilizing a young (albeit slightly imperfect) player.
It's a trauma response for Trotz after all of those years of being spanked by an old ass Detroit clubI absolutely hate the direction Nashville is going. Not giving young players legitimate shots and stacking the team with old players.
Our tweeners aren't actually playing that terrible (outside that initial stretch--I think all of them have multiple ES goals, which can't be said of our top 6). Our top 6 has been awful.Worst team in the NHL giving away young former first round picks for nothing while keeping old tweeners - things are going great!
So far it ain't been that great. His coaching career was definitely better than his GM career so far.Preds fans what's it like being on MrBonesTrotz's Wild Ride?
Sullivan doesn't even play the young players on the Pens. Unless it's 4th line usage or if they're lucky, 3rd line. So Tomasino might get lucky and tried in the top 6 but chances are they put Beauvillier back to the left wing and drop Rust back to Malkin which means tomasino would be on the 3rd line RW or 4th line. Puljujarvi have been great and he's continuously shit on by Sullivan.Honestly I feel bad for the guy because he keeps getting coaches who don't want to play young guys to start with and if you don't run around like a chicken with your head cut off hitting everything that moves then you aren't doing it right.

He's only worth a 4th now. He would've been worth more during the offseason when teams have time to figure out their roster and slot him into their lineup.Lots of people freaking out that Tomasino was *only* dealt for a 4th. So do those same people think that Trotz only called Dubas and just took the best he would offer?
Or...Did Trotz make Tomasino available to the entire league and a 4th was the best he could get for him?
Preds actually play more youth than the Pens. Tomasino wasn't better than L'Heureux or Evangelista, thems the breaks. But Sullivan wouldn't even play those two if he had them either.
Across two coaches and two Gms he hasn't been able to crack the line up as a regular and has been noted as having work ethic issues. Some can say well Hynes didn't like youth or some shit, but then you look over his time and even Tomasinos comments where he quotes Hynes in a positive way after he's already been gone and the players that did thrive under him and it's not always the coach. He's only worth a 4th now. Parssinen and Evangelista have both been heavily scratched, the only reason Evangelista has the games he does was due to injuries and Brunette having no other choice. Even when they do get in the line up those guys on a good night see 10 minutes of ice time. So while it looks like we play more youth it's an illusion really. Svechkov since coming up has seen like 6 minutes a game.Preds actually play more youth than the Pens. Tomasino wasn't better than L'Heureux or Evangelista, thems the breaks. Hell Parssinen, Evangelista, and L'Heureux wouldn't even be in the line up all at once if Sullivan was the coach. They'd be rotating on the 4th line or healthy scratched for weeks.
I'd be shocked if Sullivan and his smooth brain start him above the third line. I see Sully splitting Rust And Raks and dropping Rust back down or Rakell back down with Geno and likely bumping Beauvillier back up. Tomasino would likely just bump Puljujarvi down to the 4th line which would be idiotic and he'd be with Doc on the third line.
Ok so he played 80 last season. Your gripes are mostly for this season. Where Trotz adds two big contracts to the forwards and f***s up the rebuild.Parssinen and Evangelista have both been heavily scratched, the only reason Evangelista has the games he does was due to injuries and Brunette having no other choice. Just cause guys are in the lineup doesn't mean they are playing.
His work ethic issues was one offseason where he had played most of his first season and relaxed in the offseason thinking he had earned a guaranteed roster spot and came into camp and looked awful. It's a mistake lots of young guys make. Hynes rewarded him by telling the public that the only reason he played him the prior year was he didn't have a choice, they didn't have anyone else better. It more or less screwed his confidence for a while.Across two coaches and two Gms he hasn't been able to crack the line up as a regular and has been noted as having work ethic issues. Evangelista last season has been the only exception and alot of that was because there wasn't really anyone else. Brunette is the one giving Stamkos the large minutes he hasn't deserved 5 on 5. He's had more minutes than Forsberg many nights.Ok so he played 80 last season. Your gripes are mostly for this season. Where Trotz adds two big contracts to the forwards and f***s up the rebuild.
The issue seems more Trotz related. Because the coach that played Evangelista 80 games last year and averaged 13:57 to the 12:25 this year, is having to throw a ton more ice time to Marchessault and Stamkos.
When a GM makes 2 massive investments on offense like Stamkos and Marchessault, he can't afford to have his coach play them less, because they signed there for a reason, they're established top 6 players that have a ton of pedigree and were told what their usage would be so to blame the coach on that is a little absurd, ridiculous actually.Evangelista last season has been the only exception and alot of that was because there wasn't really anyone else. Brunette is the one giving Stamkos the large minutes he hasn't deserved 5 on 5. He's had more minutes than Forsberg many nights.
Trotz has publicly stated that everything about the line up and who plays is left up to Brunette, which means he's basically moved out two guys Brunette refused to play in Fabbro and Tomasino.
Right now Fabbro is making Brunette and Trotz both look like idiots, we will see how Tomasino turns out.
Also shouldn't confuse us giving Brunette alot of flak for not giving Trotz blame. Alot of us think he should be fired too.
