The moronic coach refuses to play anyone from wbs in positions to succeed more than anything.
Change WBS to Milwaukee and it's Bruno with the Preds, even before the vet signings this off-season.

Evangelista was an exception last year, though has now been doghoused. And Del Gaizo this year, because we literally have no other NHL defensemen.

GM's don't get ripped off, the days of phoning around trying to trade ended awhile ago. They have a whatsapp group where they send out trades and get player values from each other. Every teams GM has access to it and sees every discussion. If Trotz could have gotten a 4th+7th, then he would have taken it. The fact he only got a 4th means no GM offered better.

I understand what Nashville is doing. Trying to take up their line up but the problem I see is that it is not the 3rd and 4th line that is the problem. Top guys are not worried about their jobs

That's the thing...I'm down if you want to crush the Preds handling of young players.

But at this point - what do you expect to get for a guy who has a big zero this year in 11 games playing 4th line minutes and who hasn't played more than half a season in the NHL since the 2021-22 season.

The Preds received face value for a part-time NHLer, whether they are responsible for "turning him into that" is another question entirely. But that is who he is right now.

Stamkos has the 3rd most ES TOI for Preds forwards and has 2 ES points.

A line of Evangelista, Parssinen, and Tomasino put out something like 13 shots in a loss the other night, has been one of the few lines creating opportunities at ES recently, and all 3 healthy scratched over the next few games (and Tomasino traded).

The roster is poorly constructed but Bruno's management has been mind-blowingly infuriating. Zero accountability for vets. Zero opportunity for the young players

I don't think any Preds fans really care about the return, we knew his management had killed any value. It's just the entire handling of him and prospects like him, and most of us think there's still a solid player there that we just gave away.

I wish I could bookmark this for the next time the Oilers get bent over

I want to call this a Pens win, but fear they spent a pick on a player they'll mismanage too

Stamkos has 7goals 4 assists in 21 games.

The entire top 6 is struggling. So picking one player out of 6 and going ES Pts in an era where teams live and die with special team--is slighting questionable

Haha. Ha. Ha. Ha?

I mean, good for Tomasino. He's a legitimately skilled NHL top-6 forward. He's a little soft... not always as engaged or consistent as you might ideally wish for. But he has legit NHL skills. Which tbh he showed seemingly forever ago when he broke into the league with 32 pts in 70 games worth of playing bottom line minutes. Like 3 years ago. After which the Preds have completely a**-fu**ked the poor guy.

I think he's more talented than Tolvanen. He's not as aggressive or physical, of course. But he skates better, and has more weapons in his offensive arsenal.

I'm just a little sad that he's going to Pittsburgh where it sounds like maybe the coach there isn't quite the right fit either.

Anyway, the player is good. The Preds at this point are just hilariously bad at evaluating young talent. Oh yay, they finally got a pick instead of waiving a guy? 2014-2020 they've blown away Fiala, Trenin, Fabbro, Tolvanen, Tomasino, and Askarov first picks. Ok, they got stuff for Askarov. Basically nada for the rest.

Tomasino is a lot better than Glass. Glass was a bust, we all knew it. Tomasino is real.

Tomasino is a better NHL player than Stamkos is today.

There I said it. Tomasino is simply better. One guy has a longer track record and makes a shitload more money and gets a shitload more icetime, but if you could throw all that away and just play them equal time in the same situations... Tomasino would undoubtedly come out ahead.

2014 - traded for granlund - who eventually got traded for a 2nd
2013 - traded for RyJo who eventually was unloaded at 50% retention for future considerations

Im really hoping edstrom or that 1st turn into something worthwhile
Counterpoint: we actually got useful playing time out of Granlund and RyJo.

Am I about to pivot here from the "you children don't know true suffering" poster to the "sunshine and happiness strictly enforced" poster HFCBJ historically thinks I am? That'd just be bizarre.
