Bottom 6 depth piece that can either be played, scratched, waived, or traded. Low risk but decent reward if he gets back to the 40pt pace he was at.

1 year at 1.25 is fine and fair, plus he isnt a malcontent with a piss poor attitude who'll whine and bitch to the media like the 5 million salt of the f***ing Earth we just booted.

He cant possibly be as bad as Jansen Harkins was on the bottom 6 last season so at least he can rest easy at night free to pursue a life of religious fulfillment knowing that.

Where are all the Toronto Dubas haters? ;)

This is a pretty good very low risk deal! Considering what we were hearing overall, I was expecting much worst.

Classic Dubas sort of "depth filler" signing. Smallish "tweener" guy who isn't extra terrible at anything, but also completely lacks any sort of defined role. Who will frustrate and disappoint in the Top-6 because he's not skilled enough and wildly inconsistent and streaky in every aspect of his offensive skillset, and not a great finisher in the first place. But who will also just disappear into the woodwork in the Bottom-6 because he doesn't play a physical or remotely impactful game there in any way either, totally ineffectual on the forecheck, nor is he a PK specialist or shutdown player or anything of the sort.

But hey...$1.25M for a year is pretty much what that sort of underwhelming blunted Swiss Army Knife is probably about worth. It's basically no-risk, extremely marginal reward.

But pretty much guaranteed at some point he'll have Penguins fans screaming and pulling their hair out watching him flub plays from Malkin or Crosby every time he touches the ice.

If the Pens can somehow play all their games against Montreal he will make the All Star game and be the steal of free agency. Good kid , it’s too bad it didn’t pan out on Long Island

I think he's a 3rd round pick at the deadline, nothing more.

He can skate fast. That was about all he did in Chicago.
Carl Hagelin made a career and won two Cups doing nothing else but skate fast. I can live with that in the bottom 6.

This guy was the biggest pain in the ass in NYI, and apparently fell off a cliff at 26? Very weird. Hopefully the Pens know why that happened and rehab him back to what he was.
