I agree on that, he looks like he's absorbing the coaching and understanding the space around him better, but I also think that his brain just doesn't process at the speed of the Marner/Nylander/Matthews/Tavares tier(s) so I do think we'll see misfires and poorly placed shots forever when he has to make quick decisions in quickly shrinking space. He does well when he has time, really nice release and nice hands on breakaways, so it's too bad that he won't ever have the toolbox for all of those weaponsI saw things the last couple of games that show he's getting it. The tip pass to Engvall for the goal was something he never would have done up until a couple of weeks ago. His IQ will hold him back from an upper echelon player, but he's impressed me recently.
either way, he's useful and I'd rather have a guy who manufactures a lot of chances & converts at a low rate than a guy who manufactures few chances & converts at a high rate...the opposition can't score when the puck is in their zone
