I agree on that, he looks like he's absorbing the coaching and understanding the space around him better, but I also think that his brain just doesn't process at the speed of the Marner/Nylander/Matthews/Tavares tier(s) so I do think we'll see misfires and poorly placed shots forever when he has to make quick decisions in quickly shrinking space. He does well when he has time, really nice release and nice hands on breakaways, so it's too bad that he won't ever have the toolbox for all of those weapons

either way, he's useful and I'd rather have a guy who manufactures a lot of chances & converts at a low rate than a guy who manufactures few chances & converts at a high rate...the opposition can't score when the puck is in their zone

Yeah i watch some but Marchment wasn’t there playing this year anyways except for a few after he got back. Marchment is quite the player in big games because i have watch a few of them biggies that he come through in. I watch Marlies yes, maybe not as much as you but i do watch yes
 
I love him. But I hate his f***ing name. Can we petition him to change his name or at the very least give him a nickname?

You have no ideaa how badly I want yyou tto be wrong about Goat, thee game. Has changed you need 4 that can chip in offensively and he just can't

I can’t not mention that Hyman is STILL on pace for over 30 goals over 82 games so far.

On pace for 26 goals in 63 games.

These are the guys who you need to support the pretty boys ... give Engvall a couple years experience and he might be on a top line as well.
 
I'm super impressed with Engvall. Not as good as Mikheyev though.

He has become a good trade asset tbh but would prefer to keep him here as long as possible

Or is Mikheyev the trade asset? That is the question. He's making a few million more on a team that desperately wants cap space.

Maybe they both stay of course. It's a good problem to have and only a problem when they are producing and the team is winning. On the same wavelength, if they keep winning, you can keep everyone in the mix as long as you stay under the cap.

I hope we continue adding size and reach as well as skilll.
Hottake: Korshkov I think will wreak havoc in the NHL soon
 
I don't see Engvall asking for a lot of money. Smarter to stick with the coach and GM that believed in you for at least a few years to develop to your potential.

Hyman is the trade asset since he's UFA after next season, and the most proven. With Johnsson, Mikhevey, and Engvall I think we've finally got enough LW depth it won't kill us. No this is not a Hyman hate post it just seems the most logical guy to me to move.

Still an RFA after the deal. Could be our next Hyman.

I think the leafs will look to extend Mikheyev too. Now as this year will be the expansion draft and us up against it cap wise it might just be a 1 year deal until they can fully extend him. Johnsson is the odd man out. If there was no salary cap I would love to keep him but with Robertson on his way up and Kerfoot playing really well with JT and Nylander he is expendable.
 
I Honestly LOVE This Guy.

I agree with others on here that he should be our long term 3C.

Next Season:
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Micheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Korshkov - Engvall - Kapanen

Trade Kerfoot & Johnsson for Defence
 
Honestly he's kind of playing for the Leafs like he did when he signed his PTO for the Marlies a few years ago.

Give him a shot, not really expecting too much and he's busting down the door making sure that he sticks. Just like he earned that ELC then, he's earned a spot on this team and we should give him his extension here shortly.
 
Kid might have better upside than Johnsson to be honest. Mikheyev and Engvall may very well cause problems for Moore and Johnsson being on the team going forward

I don't think he's going anywhere. He will be resigned and should be to a long term contract.
