I've always quietly been confident in Engvall progression. I think there was too much focus on lack of offence and mistakes. You could see his size and two way play would be useful but the points are welcome.

This is it! But man if he used his size more...
He's built like a brick shit house just needs some meanness

“He’s built like a brick shit house “
so what !

“ needs some meanness “
Not going to happen , loved playing against weak minded limp players like him “ , when I caught up to them that is ….

“ skates so beautifully “
So super duper , Ice capades looking for some extras to skate around with animal heads on them for the kiddies ….

“ has a long reach “
Sounds great if he actually did something with that long reach game in game out

“ has a good hard shot “
like that one yesterday , that was awesome , now what when he misses most of the time or puts a weak one into the crest ,

“ great potential “
Tick tock tick tock ok ok !!!!

“ consistency “
A good shift here and there
One ok game every 5-7

“ contract is good “
Great , can’t we bring up other young players that fill at least what he does and more from the minors ?

“ takes the body “
Yes , one shift of every 5 and and that one good game every 5

here’s some things that actually describe this player , game in game out since he’s been up with us

I challenged those points made about this player up top here

now I challenge all of you ….
Let’s be honest with our critique with yourselves without the blue tinted awesome Leaf filters
Let’s say he played on another team …

can anyone please challenge this lower half scouting report , with actual real opposing thoughts and contradictions to the overall consensus from wayyyyyy smarter hockey minds than myself regarding 47

Scouting report
weak minded
Easy to play against
Constantly turns into danger areas when pressured or not
Has a difficult time getting the puck out of our zone
Has a problem getting the puck in deep
Can’t score
Not accurate
Pretends to be tough with his ^*%# ass cheap shots slashes and cross checks after the fact
Doesn’t win a lot of battles
Can’t win face offs
Not a good passer
Hasn’t produced at a NHL level
Does skate byes waving his stick
When he has a chance to use his great speed to cut into the middle of net , he either shoots wide or weak or just pulls up or turns out
Doesn’t stand in front of the net to screen
Is afraid of tough player's in corners
Awful in playoffs when real men come out to play
Can’t use him on the top 2 lines
He would be a ok player on 4th line playing 7-10 min
Better player in the minors
Career minor leaguer
Mistake prone
Doesn’t fight

Please give to The World Giraffe foundation
It’s a worthy cause …
Be kind to animals
Go Leafs Go

Disclaimer;
My opinions and observations are strictly about 47 as a player , not directed to him outside of him as a player on our team
It’s not personal

Prior to this year Engvall has played 90 NHL games, his stats 15 goals and 12 assists, this is pretty well playing 4th or 3rd line duty and he rarely got more than 11 minutes of TOI per game. Those are pretty good stats for any player that plays as little as Pierre and for a player who plays with players of so little talent. Sure it seems obvious that Engvall has far more to give and if Nylander was more physical, Marner bigger, Tavares faster and on and on TO would be better, sometimes we need to be more accepting that players are what they are.

TO has been winning with the players that here now so it seems they are doing the jobs they need to do that enables TO to win, an ideal situation. Teams are often chemistry experiments and even tho some members are less than many would like, they still might be the right ingredient for a successful experiment.

I read somewhere that the Eng/Kampf/Kase line was controlling the play to the tune of 54% even tho they mostly start in the DZ, that line without Engvall is around 48%, that 6% is significant. It surprises me that Keefe touches that line but the Spezza line hadn't been contributing offensively and now with Engvall they seem to be scoring, coincidence?

everyone complains that engvall isnt physical and the "player of the week" that everyone wants is hagel .........
a guy who gets 2x more icetime and they have the same number of hits and is much worse defensively........:rolleyes::rolleyes:
