Pierre Engvall

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
He's the guy that turns this team into a top heavy 2 line team, into a well balanced 3 line team. He will never be a top 30 scorer but he certainly is an important part on our team. We look so different with him in the line up vs without him. With him we look dangerous, without him we look invisible.

I'll bet there are preliminary trade discussions that had players like Johnsson or Kapanen in them that have changed with other teams trying to pry Engvall or Mikheyev away from us. Those two have been revelations.

Johnson has really been a disappointment this year, everything that made him a value player last year is absent in his game this year. The most concerning for me is he is a defensive liability. I hope he finds his game.
I agree

Mikheye and engvall are going nowhere.
Cheap contracts we need.
Johnson and kerfoot cap space and picks or prospects for a dman

His offense may cool down a bit, but hes interestingly getting almost 60% Dzone starts which is fantastic (strong possession stats too)
For me, since I didn't have high Hope's for him, he is a great example of the success of our developmental team. From his first years not being able to stick with the marlies, to making the marlies to becoming an important cog with the marlies and finally showing solid top 9 nhl potential.
Good on him for doing the work and good on is for seeing the potential and being able to develop it.

He's ill-suited for AM's line and he still needs some time to recoup from injury. I hope they stick with the Kerf-AJ-Kap line for a bit, give it a week or two and Johnsson will probably look good again. If you try to trade him, he's not getting the same return as Kappy, especially at this point.

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - ? - Kapanen

That’s the long term Top 9 for me, I’d move Kerfoot and Johnsson in the right deals. Sissons is a player I’d love to target for our long term 3C.

We need a centre with some bite on that 3rd line and size

Did anyone see that capfriendly has this guy buried in the minors right now (costing us 175 k on the cap too)
i saw that , it looks liked they flipped him with Boyd for some reason , i guess the positive is it makes us look like we have an extra few hundred K in cap

His ice time was cut in the second half of the season, not sure why. I can't find numbers to clarify the exact usage change but he had 1 point in 21 games after January 18th. If he is going to be the winger version of the Goat they don't need that. If there is another reason for the hard choke it would be nice to understand what that was.

Seeing a lot of appreciation threads get bumped, I wanna bump Engvall, dudes been good for us this year, especially in absence of Mikey. I would argue he’s been better than Ritchie

What does “good” mean to you?
I suspect we have vastly different definitions.

I’ll say definition of good varies based on expectations. I saw Engvall as a 13th forward on this team. Since Mikey went down he’s played every game and most nights he’s been pretty sound defensively, forecheks well, uses his speed and stride well and even looked decent offensively. In contrast while Ritchie certainly brings a physical element, he’s not done much else. If Mikey comes back tomorrow to me it’s certainly up for debate if it’s Engvall or Ritchie that should sit out.

Note how the bottom 2 lines do with Engvall on them:
