These are my alternate Maggie the monkey predictions. These are generated completely randomly, just to see how many of you do worse than a monkey.

Boston in 7
Tampa in 7
Carolina in 5
NJ in 4

Minnesota in 7
Winnipeg in 6
LA in 5
Colorado in 5

I still don't know who to pick for the Islanders/Canes winner.

Canes SHOULD win this series, but Raanta vs Sorokin is really the great equalizer for the Islanders. Sorokin vs any of their guys is the great equalizer. The Islanders could win this series and if the Canes do, it's gonna take them a while to win this series, unless Sorokin really doesn't play well at all.

And Raanta won't finish this series as the Canes goalie, unless Sorokin really plays badly and they just breeze through this series quickly.

I think the Bruins will win their series, but how long it takes is a whole different topic. Ullmark vs Lyon/Bob is about as lopsided as Raanta vs Sorokin. Lyon will not finish this series. They'll go back to Bob sooner or later.

It depends how many guys are out for Boston for game 1 with the stomach bug, and how many games they wind up missing because of it. We don't know who is and isn't in yet.

For that alone, I'm gonna say Boston in 7, but it could be quicker. Florida is a GOOD team, but their goalies are trash. Just like Carolina and the biggest example of that in these playoffs are Seattle, but that's for tomorrow night's discussion.

I'm taking Dallas over Minnesota in 7 games.

Edmonton over LA in 7 games. LA are a good team, but this is the worst matchup for them to draw in only round one. LA is still my dark horse, especially if they get past this round, but McDavid is too good.

Gimme another 50 minutes to decide the NYI/Carolina winner.

Let me sleep on it tonight for the series that begin tomorrow, though I'm leaning Devils in 7, Avalanche in 4 and Vegas in 6. Hellebuyck is the best goalie in the West, at least that's playing in these playoffs, so that's not a slam dunk for Vegas.

This was edited only because my voice to text completely messed up what I was trying to say (anyone who read it must have thought I was on drugs).

Best of luck to all who submitted predictions.

Sorry.... Too late.

Actually, this can count, but you would be penalized one point for each series that has already started.

just for my own recordkeeping purposes:

1 point penalty on the Bruins, and Hurricanes series.

Those came in in time.
You can vote on Carolina/NYI but with a one game penalty.
The other four, just get them in within the next four hours and you're good.

There'll be a one point penalty on the four series that had already started when you posted, but you're in!

Why bump now @dukedukowski?

Anyway, so far most of my predictions are still possible. Underestimated NYI and FLA. Feel like I was right on track predicting Seattle would be tough for Colorado but now I'm feeling the Kraken in 7.
