Student Of The Game
Let's do a bracket challenge with a twist. Instead of picking 15 series right now, we do 8, then we circle back at the end of every round and make new picks based on the results of the round.
You make the picks. I'll keep score. Here's how the scoring system works:
- You name the winner and number of games. You get a point for every number of games off you are. If you're exactly right, you get zero points. Zero points is what you want.
- if you pick Leafs in 7, and Tampa wins in 7, that's 2 points, because you're off one game for each team.
- if you pick Leafs in 7, and they win in 6, that's one point.
- if you pick Leafs in 7 and they win in a sweep, that's 3 points.
- let's see if you understand the system. You pick Leafs in 7. They lose in 5. How many points is that? (Yes, that's right, it's 4 points, good job, I think you've got it now)
- you must be thinking by now, you can game the system by playing it safe and calling everything for 7 games. Not so! Getting the winner right is still very important.
- in addition, to encourage boldness, if you pick a sweep and get it right, that's a birdie. You get -1 points. So if you believe it's a sweep, call it a sweep! Don't hedge your bets and say 5 games.
After round 1, I'll post scores, tagging everyone who participated, as a way to remind you all to come in and make your round 2 picks. Make them on time and you can stay in the game. Lowest score after the finals wins mad bragging rights.
Make sense? Ok, good. Show us all how smart you are. Go ahead and predict the results of the eight first round series. Winner and number of games. No edits after Monday... I'm watching.
