This bodes well as we head to the playoffs I think.

I feel I have noticed Matthews hitting more... and we do have some guys that will throw a shoulder here and there in Lilly, Sandin, Clifford was for sure... Kerfoot tries lol.

I think it has to be timely and of course not take yourself out of the play, but I'd like to see at least the league average and a couple doozies per game. I think with Blackwell and Gio those hit numbers should rise a little.

i dont think the problem was lack of hits, i think it was their resilience. what do they do after they get hit? do they fight back or do they cower? we need to see this team take up their physical game to the point where other teams are afraid of playing them - that when the other team hits them they are expecting to get hit back. we do this we make it past the first round (besides great goaltending and scoring)

Marner was off. Sure, he scored but he could barely complete a pass on the PP tonight.

The team looked tough in the all black unis.

He made some big saves, and while neither goal was highlight reel worthy, neither were really on him.
He made the stops needed to make and looked a lot more calm than in past performances

He made a lot of fluke saves too. Like he kicked the rebound out and was way out of position but the guy shot it right at him. He did that at least 3x.

It's scary to watch. Kallgren is way better, Mrazek should only be used on back to backs until Campbell is back.

Like I always say on here, the over drive guys won't be happy. I LOVE the show and those guys..... but of course they were at the prospects game when Lilly was a stud with a good d man. They will say they did tomorrow lol It will be interesting if they bring Lilly up. He is a VERY solid, in my opinion.

I can’t stand the lineup.

Why on earth do you break up Bunting from his line mates that dominate at 5 vs 5? You can have 2 stacked PPs and it won’t f*** up the lines after, either.

Mrazek wasn't good, barely over .900

Second best goalie again. He looks like he's swimming after every save, if there's a rebound he will have no idea where it is.

Holl playing 6 more minutes than Liljegren is concerning. Even taking out the SH responsibility he still played more 5 on 5 than Lily or Gio.

Wherever he leads the team will follow.
I absolutely believe that when the star player shows that he's willing to hit/get hit/block shots/drop them/stand up for teammates (any or all of the above) his respect level in the locker room skyrockets. And likewise with the fan base. It becomes reciprocal and the energy level and compete goes up along with it.

I have no insight inside this team, their conversations, etc. but my feeling is Auston is becoming the leader the organization wants and needs him to be. Too late to switch things up now, and no way Tavares gives it up willingly. but 34 should be wearing the "C".

We finally have a constant physical presence in the bottom 6. Took us this long to finally find someone who's willing to finish his checks on every shift.

Blackwell is gonna be a difference-maker in the playoffs I can feel it. I really like him and Simmonds on the 4th line. Spezza should be the odd man out when Kase comes back.

It's funny how he can play a game like this without looking like he's breaking a sweat. I think we can expect big things from him in the playoffs again.
