thinking a Bogosian or Lyubushkin type who can swap in case of injuries, poor play from other defenceman, load management (Giordano) or even just against specific matchups (Winnipeg, Boston ect)

top 6 seems good with Liljegren coming back and fitting like a glove next to Rielly but would still be nice to acquire some more depth and add a bit more of an edge to the blueline.

Disagree. Holl's looked like a completely different player next to Brodie and I know it's a short sample size but Liljegren doesn't seem out of place at all playing next to Rielly. Giordano and Sandin are both capable if needed to be moved up the lineup as well.

Almost every single team probably has "that guy" who plays on their bottom pairing constantly, and frustrates fans to no end. Why the physical plug guy plays over the young guy or the skilled guy or whoever. People hate these players when they're on their team.

So in hfworld, take your pick. At the actual trade deadline? Probably costs a lot more than anyone here will suggest. Especially if you want one who isn't actually awful, and a complete liability most of the time.

Top 10 doesnt make you a SC final canddidate
Top 5 does.
Look at Tampa. Look at Colorado. Chicago when they where a dynasty. Montreal when they where at finals. It was not the offense, it was the solid defence that took them there.
Leafs need a D Toews, Pelech or a Slavin type. Is Girardi still something to get.

I think when Benn returns they'll be in as good a shape as realistically possible on D - and that's assuming Muzzin doesn't return. They don't have cap space and have given away too much future for short-term fixes.
