Lions may be in a bit of trouble next year similar to the Eagles last year with installing their coordinators.
I've said this before that this whole coaching carousel thing is pretty lame. I wish the best teams' coordinators wouldn't get poached every year.

On one hand you can't just tell people what to do and its anyone's prerogative to look for a new (better) job and a raise, but like...maybe we can say you can only be eligible to be poached in the last year of your contract or something? Then of course that would turn into every coordinator signing a 1 year deal

He's a good coach who made a very, very bad football decision. I hope he got paid well.
Imagine willingly wanting to work with that quarterback? Holy f***

I don't think he's there anymore.

It's about ownership. They will never succeed until that changes. Woody Johnson is impossible to overcome. And now you've got two of them with his son, Brick. (I can't believe I wrote that sentence.)

This guy?

I can't get on board with that because i'm all for coaches and players getting the most they can. Locking these coaches into actual deals with no upward growth options is too much. Would be great for teams that I cheer for with some consistency but that's also the reason I don't like the idea of having a Head Coach that doesn't control one side of the ball.

Regarding Glenn and the Jets, i'm not sure Rodgers will be there next year and he's not even the big boogeyman in the room. It's the guy that's rejecting trades because player's Madden scores aren't high enough.

I just f***ing hate Rodgers. As everyone should. Let me have this

But yeah I'm not overly serious about the coaching carousel thing, it was just more of a musing. Idk what the answer is, but there's gotta be something to make it just a little bit better

Hopefully he's not anywhere in the NFL.

Hire an old curmudgeon that has no interest in being a head coach. That's the money spot.

I'm talking about you Spags and now Vic, you beautiful person, you.

That tends to really only work on the defensive side of the ball though now that I think about it.

@JojoTheWhale are there any of these guys on the offensive side of the ball out there?

We need to stop.

I should have brought a bunch home with me.

Not sure that making upward mobility harder is a great plan. The alternative is a LOT more retread HCs, and a lot more retread strategy. Same games, different laundry.

They're generally not the types you want to have as your OC. Think Pat Shurmur and Greg Roman. Monken might be the exception to this because he came up so late in his career. I guess we'll see. They did exist at one point. Norv Turner for example.

They kinda-sorta exist in CFB. Mike Denbrock roughly fits. Bobby Petrino has...reasons...for not getting certain chances. Phil Longo feels like he's destined to stay an OC forever, although that could just be my hatred of his scheme.

The rumor is that Kliff might actually be like this. Look at this conversation the world is forcing us to have.

And then there's this. Is that Chip?

This guy?

I have absolutely no idea who that is.

I have seen exactly one Will Ferrell movie (Elf) and that was not by choice. I hate him almost as much as I hate Jack Black.
It's weird calling a movie from the 2000s a classic now. But it was pretty hilarious when it first released. The cast makes it and it has a lot of scenes that are culture references.

That's kind of what I was getting at. It's an interesting dichotomy always when you look at the two sides of the ball and how it's handled.

Weird things are happening where we can't just sit back and laugh at Kliff anymore. I liked it more when we could but life finds a way. Not sure my little brain can handle Harris and Kliff lifting a trophy (sorry Bif.)

It may be Chip, it may not be Chip. It probably is Chip though. At the end of the day though, whatever he is, he's right. He never wanted to recruit or to wine and dine boosters. As we know didn't want the power in Philly until his hand was forced. It seems like a reasonable path for Chip but he may have too much baggage to make the jump again. I wish he would so I didn't have to not have complete disdain for Ohio State though.

This one will always ring true.

I'm not sure that I appreciate the implication here that you apparently have never watched Old School either...

On topic: Good for the Jags to finally get rid of Baalke. I have no idea how he still had a GM job in the NFL.

You know how some people don't understand jazz or rap or country or whatever other genre of music? I don't get his sense of humor. Didn't get him on SNL either. I can't even figure out what the appeal is supposed to be. It feels like trying to reverse engineer a dead language. While I get that others do and don't begrudge anyone, I'm good.

You knew it was Will Ferrell though so i'll take this as a win.

Does this count if I recognized the title and not the picture?

I would rather put my feet in one of those bowls where goldfish eat off the dead skin.

It's more for the cast and all the shenanigans they get involved in together. But if you don't like that style of comedy it is what it is. I'll just kidnap you with @Striiker and we'll force you to watch it Clockwork Orange style.

Have to say I'm with you on the Will Farrell hate. It's up there with my Robin Williams hate when he's trying to be funny. Incredible dramatic actor (Williams), but I have no time for him (or Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler) unless they are performing dramatic roles. Standup/Comic actors (at least from my vantage point) lose their humor quotient quickly but they excel at drama. Hell, Tom Hanks was a comedy guy.

It counts as long as you don't think that Steve Carrell is Will Ferrell.
