Well I just traded up with ATL to #8 (#10 + two 3s) and drafted Jalen Carter, then took Branch with #30

Welp, I've had enough mental m*sturbation for one day.

I don't get this AT ALL from the Jets' perspective. Giving up a 1st and 2nd for 1, or maybe 2 years of Rodgers in the (late) autumn of his career.

They're not gonna win the Super Bowl. Not in that conference. Not in that division even.

So, why trade away those picks? To get back into the playoffs? To put the Jets back on the map? Purely PR reasons? That's a steep price to pay...

I mean, ESPN put Quinnen Williams in their "Jets playmakers" graphic. I just don't think the Jets are anywhere close to "just a QB away" from winning it all. No way!

Edit: I didn't know Williams had an awesome 2022 season. I was going by his first 3 seasons, which weren't all that great. Point still stands.

The Jets with a QB based on last year, at the very least, won’t be scared of anybody, just depends on if Rodgers is still that guy as to whether or not they’re contenders.

Yeah, I mean I get why they wanted him and that they didn't have any other avenue to a top QB. I just think they should have stood firm on what they were going to give up, considering Rodgers is gonna turn 40 this year. I don't have a problem with the trade itself, I just think they overpayed, by a lot.

They did, but if the Jets miss the playoffs, guys are getting fired, it’ll be someone else’s problem to fix.

I was getting excited for the draft, and then I remembered its now an entertainment spectacle and I'm going to be subjected to music and a bunch of goofy people holding it up to read a card.

Le sigh. Give me back the 1980s draft in some rando conference room.

Tyree Jackson going to make his move this year at TE

This draft cycle is insane. Such a weak class at the top but the rumors, storylines and shifting narratives are as entertaining as I have ever seen.

Will Levis going #1 would be such a fitting end to all of it that I absolutely hope it happens.

I posted this yesterday in the NCAA thread. Crazy town

I've always been wary about phrases like, "best passer in the class." It's the tallest midget all over again. The best QB prospect in a particular class may actually be someone who never scratches the Top 10 in any year of his career. It's how QBs like Jake Locker, Josh Rosen, (insert your favorite whipping boy here), and others get drafted high and bust. I get it - scheme, coaching, injuries, et al, are definite contributing factors - but unless I see a clear separation of talent and work ethic, I'm not mortgaging the future on what will effectively be a placeholder. Multiple studs (in hindsight) at QB in the first round of a draft year are the exception, not the rule. Who knows? Stroud, Richardson, or even Levis might be generational talents. I'm not a GM or a coach, but if a team is desperate to fill a need at QB and is not 100% convinced this is their guy - not just the best of a particular crop...well...BPA for me.
