I knew he was on the brink of signing.
Not sure he has enough character to succeed on the Flyers. Needs to be handcuffed to the 4th line, preferably with Frost so that Noah Cates and Ryan Poehling can get their 17 minutes a night of high work rate minutes in.

Is it? They handed Hathaway a $4.8 million extension even though he’s already signed next year literally an hour after it became possible to extend players for after the 24-25 season. Ryan Poehling and Scott Laughton averaged about as much TOI as Morgan Frost. They resigned the corpse of Erik Johnson to play hockey…for…well I’m not sure why other than he’s basically a coach at this point.
It’s not really gonna get old until the Flyers start to actually hedge a bit more on talent and a bit less on lunchpail qualities.

Lumping Poehling w/Cates is commonly done by Flyer fans, Perhaps you get your talking point from half wit writers like Charlie O'Connor. Poehling is a superb skater with decent mits that plays 200 ft. Cates is hard worker with little else.
There are actually some skilled players that for a variety of reasons take a bit longer to find their niche. Poehling is a good example
