Unfortunate early season injury for the Leafs 1B goalie?

We already know that he got hurt.

The article is about the value Dubas' signing has brought to the team.

I can see why Dubas fans may not want to talk about it but unfortunately it will have to be.

$3.8M is expensive for a backup goalie, as is, nevermind for a chronically injured one.

Mrazek isn't a backup goalie. He's a tandem goalie, and his cap hit was reasonable. The signing wasn't just for the 1st month of the season, so it's quite premature to be making claims about the value received from that signing. And ignores that Campbell has done excellent in his place, as the other half of the tandem that Dubas brought in.

Of course, Simmons doesn't care about any of that, because his job is to twist everything to be endlessly negative.

Excellent use of $3.8m in cap space that Dubas scraped up and for 3 years. Seriously, how do these guys keep their jobs ??
Not sure but the scrambling to come to his defense makes for some entertaining time wasting in my office.

For 6/7 of the previous seasons he's played between 37-53 games per year. That's not a backups workload.

Let me play Flyers advocate here and ask who would yall like to target on the goalie market to usurp Cambell?

Ryan Miller?

Mrazek will get er done in the new year. Timothy Liljegren for PM and things.

Mrazek is a 3.8M cap hit for another 2 seasons after this one. And it's already looking like a dead weight contract.

The leafs will have to do some cap-gymnastics if they have to sign Campbell to a big contract
He’s played 5 periods in the first dozen games due to what isn’t a career threatening injury, let’s slow the roll on the hyperbole of immovable contracts. Did you see what other goalies signed for this off-season?

Now do this for the other 31 teams (remove their top 2 goalies)
True, but not all teams have top 2 goalies with a long history of injury problems like ours do....

Dubas knew that signing Mrazek was a risk and now the signing isn't looking to great.

Maybe he didn't know. He does have a history of appearing like he isn't aware of what is going on.

Pretty much every goalie is a walking injury, better to have two so hopefully ones ready to go as opposed to relying on one guy
