Elbow to the head will be called a 5 everytime and let’s be honest McCallum doesn’t have a great rep with officials in the league between him and his brother I’m not saying that should factor into the decision to call it a 5 but he plays on the edge so anything close they may lean 5 and a game but from the replays it looked like a clear elbow to the head.

I don't think anyone was worried about it going to a shootout last night.

Woolley threw a big clean hit versus the Petes player getting his arm up into the head on his hit. Probably why one was a 2 game suspension and the other wasn't.

McCallum doesn't come up higher with the elbow than would with any normal hit, Nurmi is head down, turning, staring at the puck. From my view in person, it looked fine, watching the broadcast back one angle looks like it could have been high and the other doesn't to me.

But I guess as we know from the last WJC that Canadian players aren't allowed to hit non-Canadians when they turn (Celebrini) but the non-Canadians can when they "turn" (Beck). (this sentence is 95% sarcasm)

No one was last season in London either. It wasn't last night but it would have been hilarious.

The game was already 2-0 and it felt like your guy was trying to get some momentum back when he threw the hit.

I don't know if it deserved a 2 game suspension but a player on the Knights just got 4 games for a hit from behind while other hits from behind have been getting 1 or 2. So I don't know what's going on with the suspensions sometimes.

I didn't realize that was an issue, but can't really deny it could have helped do that.

If I'm not mistaken, the two games is automatic for when it's called a major head check.
Speaking of variance in suspensions, though, McIntyre gets suspended for a slew foot without using his foot, but Barlow blatantly (with the stretch back of the leg before the kick forward) slew footing Partridge in Oshawa at center ice, and it's not even called a penalty.

Because one team was the Peterborough Petes and the other was the London Knights. We all know the league always favours the Knights in most situations.

Up 2-0 vs Ottawa, Melee gets a clear breakaway after a sweet feed from someone. Man if Melee buries that , we're up 3-0. Who knows. What if......Anyway, Stonehouse also had a few breakaways and didn't score as well. Anyway we Petes fans will take "what if" situations as glimmers of hope lol.

The youth of the Petes team is seen even more the last few games playing against the Knights and 67s. It feels like these teams (and Sudbury and Oshawa) have had the same players forever. How many 19 and 20 year olds does Ottawa have and they are barely over .500?

I thought Petes played well at times and Johnston was outstanding. The question is not how many 19 and 20 yo players we have, but how the ice time is distributed. Forwards with zero offensive output are given regular shifts, including special teams, and rookies sit. Very old school.
