Surprised there's so few people talking about this. Nic Petan took an elbow to the head last night and was puking on the bench shortly after it happened. Why was he allowed to stay in the game? Even if the puking was unrelated it still seems pretty irresponsible to not check him at all.

Yeah what was the deal with that, I didn't get a good look at what actually happened to him (I didn't realize it was a head shot, thought it looked more like he got smacked in the throat). He didn't look like himself after that though.

Did he actually puke? He just looked winded to me. It happens and you feel find after a few tough moments.

I agree he didn't have much of an impact afterward though.

Damn that's a very good point! And he didn't seem like himself thereafter either, which may be another telling sign. Most likely People, me for one, got too engrossed in the on ice action, and didn't think about Petan's best interests? Folks from HC et al really should know better nowadays...

Don't want to keep harping on Canada -Russia 72 series, since I've pretty much flogged that horse to death. Still I'm reminded that Henderson sustained a concussion at one point, and kept playing against docs orders. Now don't take that the wrong way...I'm NOT saying that the concussion protocol ( or whatever it's called? ) shouldn't have been followed to the letter with Petan...

Yup, what u seem to be suggesting is quite right...questions, pointed questions, NEED to be asked of HC et al!

When they put the concussion protocol in place I said "That's great...for a regular game, but what happens when it's a key player in a life and death game?" Well, now we have our answer. Well, at least the concussion protocol works most of the time, and that means we're still better off than we were before, but I do think people need to bring this up with the HC staff.

Sure looked like he was puking to me...and even I know that can be a sign of a serious head injury

I thought that was why Ritchie took his place on the McDavid line?
Don't think I saw him play much after that.

He looked like he was playing on instinct for most of the game rather than thinkng the game. Not his style at all. He has a concussion from a cheap shot earlier in the season. Hope this is not a sign of future problems for him.
