Nice article. It was really awesome to see him get his chance, he's earned it and then some. I think he can play in this league, though mainly as a #6/7 type of D-man. A team that's going through a rebuild would be a good choice for him, where he can be tossed to the wolves and be given the ice time to sink or swim.

Was dying when I saw this, but the write it is almost funnier because you can see how enthusiastic Campbell was about it anyway:

"Before the game started, Campbell’s teammates had a little “gift” for him.

“Just before warm-ups, I was standing in the room, and all the guys were getting on me to lead the way out to warm-ups,” he explained. “Once I stepped out, onto the ice, the other guys held themselves in the tunnel, and gave me couple of laps by myself. It was pretty funny. A cool moment.”

Indeed, Campbell was on the ice for warm-ups for a short time without a teammate anywhere on the ice.

“I know [goaltender Jonathan Quick] was at the front of the line, and [center Anze Kopitar] was behind him,” said Campbell. “I saw the replay, and they were both having a pretty good chuckle at it. [Defenseman] Willie [Mitchell] might’ve led the way, but I think it was a collective effort among all the guys.”"

I'm really thrilled about what all his teammates had to say about him though. Really a feel-good story about busting your tail in the minors to get your shot. And he looked solid in his time! After reading this, though, I really feel like he's gonna be somewhere else next year on a bottom pairing--and I don't mean that in a bad way. Good for him working his way here.
