Regarding the game, I'm not putting too much stock into whipping the lowly Habs as their goaltending was absolutely atrocious. I think this was merely a team having a bad game and we capitalized all night. That said, there was a different feel to the game last night where I felt things were "clicking" at a higher degree than normal, particularly with Rust, Rakell, and Sid. The plays they were able to make are plays they haven't been making on the regular. I don't think if that's because the Habs flat out suck, if they just had an overly good night, or if it's a sign that things are starting to click for them.

Bunting's been better than Malkin since November 1.
7 points in last 6.
Idk, weird time to whine about him.
They both look bad, but we didn't give up futures in a trade to acquire Malkin. Hope that helps.

Anyhow, I'm sure there's a stat for whatever Bunting's bringing to the ice. Science knows nothing but progress, all life is quantifiable.

Didn't give up shit. We got Brunicke out of that, who is gonna end up better than the late 1st people wanted.
And if Bunting keeps this up he's very tradeable at the deadline.

It was 20 games of Guentzel. I'd take Brunicke alone for that, every time.

Bunting went through a lull but of late he's played pretty well. His only crime is he's not Jake! Along with Brunicke and the other pieces it was a good trade for a guy who left Carolina and they ultimately got nothing. The Jury is still out on Pono and Koivunen. The same with Brunicke but he impressed big time at TC. I know Jesse thought highly of him.

Bunting keeps going offsides and not finishing chances…low offensive IQ player who’s not much better than DOC in the top six…he’s much better on the PP…we need to find better top six options bc our LW roster is probably the worst in the league

I wasn't saying keep Jake, ya dingus.

Anyhow, here's hoping we trade Bunting because lord knows I hate to see a mildly interesting player get Sullivan'd into what we got now.

Anyhow, reported AB's mention of Guentzel for not posting in the Around the NHL thread. Let that be a warning to you all.

DOC's a complete waste! Bunting isn't! Visually and statistically one is a capable top six wing the other has proven he isn't.

And DOC doesn't finish off ANY chances as he never scores!

I like Rust, I just begged us not to re-sign him for six years at the time lol..ideally he’s a L3 player who PKs and plays PP2 in his 30s and not a top line candidate lol

3.5M? That would be a complete steal.
He's got 76 points in his last 86 games. 40 goals.

He should 100% be traded this summer if he continues producing like this. Some team desperate for scoring will bite.
If he were to stay, either he regresses and kills his value, or he continues playing like this and it doesn't make any difference for a team that is not ready to win.
Best to just unlock the cap space.

Honestly, if I was Dubas, I’d ask him to consider waiving his NMC if there’s a team who wants him at the deadline for a good return…can always threaten to trade him to a worse team after July 1 lol

Yep. The more you wait, the more you risk a drop-off. Waiting is pointless if the value is not gonna go up if you do. In his case it won't.
