It's nice to get wins on teams it's reasonable expectation to beat. That's an improvement, this season.

The bonus clobbering on the board is some tasty icing on the cake. Good for Rusty with the hatty.

I'll try to get my friends on board for further Mariokart marathons when the team is up by two in the future :D

We're a bottom 5 team

Wish it were true but it's looking more like bottom 10ish. Yay no man's land.

@HandshakeLine Rust took your thread personally
It's good to know I can still have some effect on the world.

Also, credit where credit is due, Rust looked a lot more like the old Rust last night than he has in years. It's a shame it just took us playing one of the worst teams in the league to bring it out.

I don’t think Hoglander is a very good player, and I doubt Sully employs a scoring line without any NA players, but I’m open to almost anything to get Bunting off L2. The guy had Geno screaming at him for 5 seconds to get onside tonight. I don’t think he has the sense to play with Geno and be effective for any length of time.
I really am not glad they asked for Bunting instead of better picks/prospects last year.

How is Montembeault on team Canada, is the goaltending situation that dire? Not like he's a young talent you want to take for the experience. He's 28 and never had a GAA below 3.

Personally thought Joel Hofer should be the 3rd goalie, younger with more upside. There are a couple plausible conspiracy theories about Montembeault:

1. They didn't have anyone from the province of Quebec on the roster prior to his inclusion. Didn't want a political tizzy/uproar to deal with.

2. Montembeault plays for Montreal, Canadian team bias present.

Watching the 3rd period, my wife (who hardly ever watches games w/me but knows how bad we are from me screaming and laughing at the TV during most of our games this year) : "wow, the other team must really f***ing stink"

Amazing what difference it makes when your power play units actually have some idea what they are doing. Jarry made some big saves early, L1 was unstoppable and the Habs D were doing their Gryz impersonation all night long.

Of course when the opponents give up half an hour before the end of the game, that also helps. Weird to see it happening to the other team, not the Pens. Maybe they really wanted to take that worst goal differential in the league trophy away from us, the bastards.

Hopefully they can put some good games together. Seeing Sid outside the top 30 in scoring crushes my soul.
He was playing with a purpose last night. If he keeps that up for a bit, he’ll get above the PPG.

To be honest, I’ve never really liked him with rust. I dunno what it is.
