What a horrible contract!!!!! A glorified Vitale shouldn't be making over $2 million a season!!!!!! Rabble, rabble!

But seriously, this is a fair deal. I don't like how it takes him straight to free agency, but the money is fair. People who expected him to sign for less than $2 million were being completely unrealistic.

Not pleased. Cap hit is fine value, even if I'd prefer to spend less, but giving him fair value and 2 years is not a good move IMO.

We love overpaying for dime-a-dozen third/fourth liners

The value is fine, but when you're a team like the Pens with certain cap constraints, its not fine.

I mean... I guess it's better than the embarrassment of trading for him and promptly losing him for nothing. I guess.

It's alright. Would've rather have a 3 year deal with this money or a 2 year with slightly less. Eh. More interested in the Sutter one. Are we moving him? Signing him?

About what I expected. If he can chip in some timely points like Cooke used to and play with a bit of an edge when it's called for (I don't think he's a physical player based on his stats, despite what GR or anyone else says), and effectively fill different positions when guys get hurt, then it's not a bad deal. If you expect him to bag 40-45 points, you're going to be disappoint most likely.

Guess its a fair deal. Would rather have a 1 year deal to keep him RFA or a 3 year deal to buy at least 1 FA year.

Bu cant complain about the price. Thats what 3rd line players costs now.

Scuderi will be moved eventually. Maybe not right away due to the Maatta injury but his cap hit will be good.

I'm expecting 30 points and solid defensive play from Spaling, hopefully playing on a shutdown line with Sutter and Dupuis.

I would expect Dupuis-Sutter-Spaling to be a good defensive line but with the lack of playmaking, puck handling and passing, and cycling, do you still think Spaling puts up 30 points?

I said I hope he plays with Sutter and Dupuis. I don't expect that to happen. I think Downie or Bennett will be the RW on that line (probably Bennett) and Dupuis will be in the top-6. I don't like it either.
