Anyone ever think about how we looked good in the playoffs against the Rangers because Dumo was hurt?

Dumo hasn't been the same since breaking his ankle a handful of years ago, although I think his was a steady decline. I remember when Scuderi broke his early in his second stint with us and when he came back his drop off was substantial just like that.

I think the slower they are at skating from the start, the harder they fall.

Even Erik Karlsson who was a extremely fast skater wasn't really the same after his ankle injury (was it ankle?). Still really good but not the same.

Seems like ankle injuries are the death of Dman especially if they are older.

There are a decent number of dmen that I thought were toast that ended up being key players for recent cup teams - Schenn, Kulikov, Shattenkirk, Bogosian - so I'm not sure if Dumo could provide something similar as to what they did...or if he actively hurts us.

I do believe they will keep him for the year and then not resign him.

Agree about Dumo. He hasn't been right since then, though there have been varying degrees of not right. IIRC, Karlssons was a three quarter Achilles tear courtesy of Matt Cooke in the playoffs. A despicable play, no doubt.

Nah. Karlsson had another injury in 2017 that he played through that required him to have a large portion of his ankle removed I believe.

I really don't know why the team brought in Jeff Carter to honker him down with heavy defensive minutes. People crap on Bylsma using Iginla on his off wing with Malkin, this is worse. The media narrative is starting to catch up with Carter's poor play, but the dude is being put in a role that doesn't suit him and led to a brutal -7 last year in the Rangers series.

Dear god, that dude must have an insane pain threshold. Even by hockey standards. I'm not sure what "half of ankle bone" means, as that is an incredibly complicated joint, but it sounds awful.

Good thing we have Sullivan for 3 more years after this.

I think we’re gonna be in the running to reacquire Sam Lafferty at the TDL…lol…don’t laugh…

11. I wouldn't be surprised if Sam Lafferty's name generates trade interest at the deadline. He's a fine bottom-six player who can jump into the top-six and be a spark plug if needed, and his $1.15 million cap hit for this season and next is pretty appealing.

I highly doubt this, Hextall isn't JR. Probably only means Chicago isn't happy with him and wants to ship him elsewhere non Pit.

I could share the links I had read the Pens are looking into James Van Riemsdyke. 7 million cap space. Flyers would have to eat some salary.

Yeah, I don’t want either…JVR is toast..plus, I think our top nine LWs are fine…I’d rather someone who can play center and move Carter to RW or to the bench lol…or a RW to replace to Kap

Towes?

But I agree because if we want someone that is carrying a bunch of Cap space, may as well make a play for Chychryn.

Same. I'd rather him play Wing.
Atleast maybe Blueger could pass to Carter or something. Carter could take the draws.

Then use DOC or Pheoling for 4C

Tampa is going to acquire him and turn him into a 20-20 guy.

Lol, and then sign Laff for seven years….have you seen JVR? We need someone who is forecheck and work hard lol..plus, as I said, we don’t need another LW unless Jake or Zucker are injured again, which I’m not discounting

I mean Toews, Horvat would be a better fit…

Yes. My dad is a Flyers fan.

JVR is a net front presence who is producing well on the Flyers third line.

Then again every Flyers line is a third line.

No thanks on slow LW's who cost the Pens a player who is better. Unless Zucker is on LTIR until the playoffs, no thanks. I liked Lafferty as the grit 4th line RW but Sully tired of his penalties and his style that didn't fit the profile. Me I think with another coach he is on the Pens and giving them the kind of response to liberties that at least gives the opponent some pause here. I think sully is a good coach as he knows what he wants. But I think the Pens could benefit from a change to bigger more physical fourth line play and a third line that is willing to compete in the tough areas every game. Move Dumo with a pick/prospect for cap space. Move Kap for a physical LD, Soucy or Dillon. Give me this:
McGinn TB Carter
Poehling DOC Lafferty
Carter is on the books with over 35 contract so either trade him back to LA, his home, in the off season with some retention or waive him to give the Pens an third line winger who is faster and can play D.

Lafferty sucks ass.

JVR is not slow. And he’s a big ass net front guy who scores. Team could use a piece like that.
