Still loving that Kapanen is playing well. Sullivan must absolutely hate it right now.

Genuinely hope Kap keeps it up. I know he's not gonna be a 2pt per game guy or anything, but sorting out that 3rd line and having Rust come back to life for Geno's 2nd line would be gigantic. Maybe this team doesn't do anything in terms of legit competing, but they'll be so much better to watch.

What if our beloved Sully was the catalyst to reinvigorate Kap's career?

Kapanen had a couple of tap-ins tonight.

Puck luck is nice and all and he's playing well (as he has done for spurts here especially 2 years ago), but I wouldn't get fooled by small sample size. That is if I was trying to actually look at the situation and not just use Kapanen as a poster child for a "Sully is the issue" narrative.

Need to go to those areas though, which is not something he's done close to enough of in his time here. He relies on the rush far too much. That's part of why he gets so few shots.

Yeah, this is prob just a nice little hot streak but the fact that he's in the right spots is a huge improvement over floating around aimlessly or gaining the zone to pull up and pass across the ice to nobody.

Sure but "go to the net" means nothing if your line doesn't have possession in the opponent's zone. I am glad he is doing the right stuff and getting rewarded, and is in a better mental headspace. But that headspace will ebb and flow because that is who he is. Potentially Carter will also start playing like sh1t again and Kappy will have to play defense the whole time.

All in all, of course I am glad he helped with two great wins, but streaky player will continue to be streaky.

Most Forward scoring is streaky, especially those with low 5v5 minutes. That's to be expected.
I like his process right now more. Battle level, wall play, proactive positioning when he doesn't have the puck, cuts to the inside...
Hopefully he can hold up his end, regardless of what his linemates are doing.

It's clear that him and Carter enjoy playing together a lot, so that's a positive at least.

I’m perplexed by what people think 3 million gets in today’s NHL.

I think what we have seen the last couple games is the team overall had a lot of possession and L3 had OZ possession.

Whereas where Kappy's issues over the last 14 months have been that he has been ineffective as a d-zone pressure release valve (which in theory he should.so best) and his finishing has been garbage.

The goal on Thursday was very encouraging from a finishing perspective. That was not easy at all
