Yea it only bombed countries that weren't even close to it, so much better.

Because Russia is being banned from a tournament for bogus political reasons.
And honestly I'm not a fan of punishing the athletes for what their government is doing. Malkin and Kaprizov have nothing to do with it. Wish they would leave politics out of it completely.

The US hasn’t tried to annex a sovereign country in over a 100 years.

Not sure why we’re talking politics on a hockey board.
Yeah, we just overthrow their government, put puppets that will do whatever we want in charge, and call it "democracy".

Anywho, it's a stupid tournament money grab. They should just let them play in the Olympics since there is an established tradition and history there. But since they aren't making the money, nooooooooooo.

I will admit I didn't read the article, but this headline pissed me off. How f***ing stupid are these people? We aren't sick of the core. We're sick of boring hockey. We're sick of blowing multi-goal leads. We're sick of the lineup decisions. We're sick of ownership sitting back pretending everything is OK. We're sick of the COACH. WE'RE SICK OF LOSING.

These idiots really think that just because we love Sid, Geno, and Letang that we are going to part with our hard earned money to go be bored for 3 hours and watch them lose on a weekday? This is Pirates level shit. We have Jason Kendall, everyone loves him right? What Jason Bay, he's pretty good. Cutch is back, remember the good ole days?

extremely hot take (for this board): Pens haven’t been “boring” this year. They trade chances like crazy.

People not going because they’re not a true contender and it’s expensive. Also would say the vast majority of fans are way too casual to care about who is the coach when they’re buying tix.

Honestly, as a season ticket holder, the rough start of the year drained all excitement from the team. I'm 0-6 to games I went to this season and none of them were pretty. It sucked any joy I had in going to more games. And now it's hard to even GIVE away tickets, especially on the week night.

Couple that with the fact that the Steelers are having a great season, far above expectations, and there is absolutely no hype for the Penguins. 2 years of playoff losses and a horrible start has really drained interest in caring from the fan base. Which makes sense, Pittsburgh isn't that big of a city and with 3 professional sports teams, the fans are going to pay more attention to the one that's winning and exciting.

That's even before talking about it being kind of expensive for the average person. The ROI just isn't there if there's a chance you show up to a game and they give up 6 goals in the first period.

This is really no different than an embargo when you don't like the actions of a particular country.
Embargoes hurt your common worker, but no one seems to really care about them either.

It's political theatre, nothing else.

I'd watch more of THIS team with a simple change of putting Sid/Geno on a line together.

Boring hockey is an understatement. This team is often brutal to watch and makes feel that tuning in is a chore. Soft skating, ZERO physicality, horrid offense, bad defense, bad goaltending, arrogant coaching...it's just not likeable. On top of that we have TV folks who are afraid of calling actual issues out. Errey would have spit roasted them 20 games ago. Instead we get Getzoff HUGE HIT BY ACCIARIIIIIIIII (It was actually Nieto who simply fell down in the corner) and the other former players who just spit cliche's that they know we're not capable of like "Yeah the Pens need a goal here, big momentum shift"....

But yeah, getting to see something on the sinking ship I've wanted to see for a decade would be neat. Second place would be trading for some maniac who will muck things up. Third would be playing youth that you wouldn't otherwise see. Pining the same tired system with less and less and less offense / worse defense over the years is lunacy. Why should we tune in?

If this is what Sid or Geno or Letang want, enjoy it guys. Don't get pissy we don't partake. More than likely, this is what the front office wants with an absent GM (someone check the youth hockey attendance or 2027 draft class he's 'masterminding' lol) so they can watch.

Chance one way is from a top line usually 3 on 1. Chance the other way is DOC or Beau maybe getting a shot off into the side of the net while the defense is draped all over them.

That's not exciting....at least not to me.

That's probably fair, but I stopped watching weeks ago  mainly because the losing and sticking with the coach.

Although, I'd say giving up chances is not exciting unless your goalie can stop them from time to time.

I agree. I don’t think it’s boring hockey- imo it’s as simple as they’re not good and it’s expensive as hell.

Arena prices are getting nuts. Went to PSU-Army last night in cap one arena (DC) and 2 tall boys ran me $45

I haven't watched as much this year and it has nothing to do with boring hockey, it's because of infuriating hockey. Boring or even unskilled I can deal with but repeated mental errors and incompetent strategy/structure are harder to swallow.

I was purposefully vague in my post about what things the US has done which I consider war crimes because I don't want to get into a huge political bru ha ha on here.

My only point is that the US absolutely has done some heinous shit and continues to do so to this day so to punish Russia for that with international tournaments but not the US is hypocritical.

Either let them all play or ban them all.
Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the devil, and the government is lying about 9-11.

A lot of hockey is the escapism for me which is why I don’t like talking about it here.

I don’t give enough shits about the 4 nations tournament for me to argue about the politics of whether Russia should be included

The Olympics are the only international event that matters.
