Liverpool is in first place in the Premier League this season. Boston Red Sox are the parent company. The Penguins are a very distant third.

FSG is probably elated about the first team, very much involved in getting the parent team back on track, and probably just shrug their shoulders about the Pens. Oh well, can't win them all.

This is the MASSIVE disadvantage of being owned by a major conglomerate sports group.
Yea our ownership is just a bunch of faceless suits. I think they really did give Dubas the keys to the franchise, except they want Sullivan there too.

Yeah, I dunno man. For some reason, maybe the drugs, I just got a feeling Sully's gonna be done once the season's over. It'll be framed as some tearful mutual parting of ways but they have to fire him. Right?

I volunteer as a tribute to coach the team for free. You can even chant "Fi-re Some-Dude" and I'll clap along. Anything to move on from the Sullivan era.
I don't think this team would be any worse with some random HF poster behind the bench. Genuinely. It's insane that Sully is still so revered in the organization.

Then trade those guys for Tomasino types, instead of draft picks. There is no point in keeping a player like Puustinen eating nachos in the press box.
Exactly. Also whatever Sullivan is f***ing around Puljujarvi with, get value for him now before it really f***s Puljujarvi over and get something for Doc before he does his full turn as XL Acciari.

Oh, Yes, can I coach the defense and run the PK?

I have some ideas, not written down of course, but they're amazing!!!
Reporter: "Hey Duffy13 can you tell us what those ideas are?"

Duffy13: "I don't need to sit here and explain it to you, I have ideas and I have looked into ideas, that's all you need to know."

Editors note: Duffy13 was asked to explain what these ideas were that would help, he refused to get into detail or really acknowledge if there were any ideas at all.

Everything with how Sullivan uses Puljujarvi is weird.

An intelligent team would take him and make him a major bottom-6 piece for their team.
PULJUJARVI IS SHIT
O'CONNOR IS SHIT
POULIN IS SHIT
GLASS IS SHIT
PONOMAREV IS SHIT

Or something...

They should put Beauvillier and Tomasino with Geno.

Malkin might skater and give Sullivan the Craig Adams treatment. It could solve all our problems.

I have a 5 point plan

1. Keep everyone in suspense
Just give em the Ole Sully Razzle Dazzle - Never explain what any of those plans are, but allude to them possibly existing.

It's another trade where a early to mid 20yr old prospect/player is brought in without using what they have in wbs more. That is the biggest problem for me. I don't give two f***s about Tomasino, I personally think he sucks. Would have rather gotten L'Heureux or Evangelista over him if they were going to get someone for a pick.

Otherwise I'd have rather seen Dipshit Dubas move more players out and called up Pono, Koivunen, Gruden, etc first. Hell move Doc, waive Puustinen, call up Bemstrom first.
Tomasino is 23. He's a year older than Broz.

Gruden is 24. Bemstrom is 25.

Tomasino is a former first round pick with a substantially more impressive pedigree and skillset than Bemstrom and Gruden. He is instantly better than every forward 23 and younger forward in the Pens system other than McGroarty and maybe Broz.

Aw but how could you deny him such a whizbang wing combination in Bunting and Beauvillier? Those three stand to score a goal as a line sometime in the next several seasons and that kind of production is something you just don't mess with.

Listen he gets Beauvillier and slightly worse right handed younger Beauvillier and he will like it or they take the Borscht away.

You're assuming Yohe is even aware that a coach's salary is off the books if he signs with a new team. You're giving Yohe way too much credit here.
I was gonna say yoho can't even comprehend what he sees with his own 2 eyes let alone a contract he's never seen.

Anybody with access wanna give a rundown of the Pens-related stuff? Sully being the picture they used for that article is giving me hope.

Planet Sullivan

Mike Sullivan, Pittsburgh Penguins

He's one of the NHL's longest-tenured coaches, but his seat should be scorching.

The Penguins are a disaster this season, giving up nearly four goals per game on average, mustering only 2.5 goals per game offensively, and currently with a 1.9% chance of making the Stanley Cup playoffs, per Money Puck. It's a team with a veteran core of star players that seems destined to finishing outside of the postseason for a third straight season.

Normally, this would get any coach fired, especially one who has been with a team for a decade. But Sullivan is still there, behind the Pittsburgh bench, watching the definition of insanity play out on the ice every night.

He's under contract through 2026-27 but wouldn't suffer from lack of options if he and the Penguins ever parted ways. Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas and Fenway Sports Group ownership have backed Sullivan in public and private. Sullivan told The Athletic that he's not going to leave on his own accord.

"I'm invested in the Pittsburgh Penguins," Sullivan said. "I care very, very deeply about this organization. I care deeply about the group of guys who have been in that locker room for a very long time. I love this organization with all of my soul. This organization and so many people associated with it have changed my life in so many ways. And so, for me, the challenge of trying to move this team forward and transition this team, it's a different kind of challenge, but it's one that I am welcoming."

That tracks with what sources in the coaching community believe.

"He's committed to win with that team. He knew what he was getting into," a source said. "I think he's the best coach in the league. People in Pittsburgh don't realize that these guys are all years older from when the last time they won, and there's just not a lot of young fresh talent there."

ESPN is just as puzzled as us:

Normally, this would get any coach fired, especially one who has been with a team for a decade. But Sullivan is still there, behind the Pittsburgh bench, watching the definition of insanity play out on the ice every night.

But of course Sullivan's reputation around the league is sparkling:

When you look back and see all of the firsts we did away with and how players drafted in those positions do, it's actually decently impressive that Dubas has been able to bring in Puljujarvi, Glass, signing Beauvillier and now Tomasino—all first-round picks from the last 9 years. Realistically, these relatively shrewd deals have probably done a decent job what we would have likely got out of said picks.

Exactly. Also whatever Sullivan is f***ing around Puljujarvi with, get value for him now before it really f***s Puljujarvi over and get something for Doc before he does his full turn as XL Acciari.
Nah, I'd honestly rather just keep Puljujarvi unless he directly tells us he's not resigning and wants a trade. I'm okay resigning him for another couple of years so long as the wheels don't fall off. I could easily see him getting a 2yr $1-1.5mil deal which would be good for both sides.
