The only way Sid leaves is if he asks out. FSG is in this for money. Sid the player gets you some picks and prospects that maybe turn into players.

Sid the lifetime Penguin is a walking ambassador for the brand they own for the next 50 years.

I want Sid to retire as a Pen but not badly enough that I want Dubas to sign Jake to some massive contract just to try to keep Sid around…if Sid is not on board with going for it with younger players around him, who may not be as good as Jake yet, then he should leave after next season…Dubas needs to stop signing 30+ players, particularly forwards…I hope he spends at least the off-season if not up to the TDL jettisoning some of the older player contracts we have who are not part of the core…

If they sign Jake they'd better find a way to dump all of Raks, Rust and Smith and like Andy said largely try to retool younger, harder working, faster and wanting to prove something in their top six.

So since that's more or less impossible just don't resign Jake to some gargantuan immovable contract.

I Believe Sid will ask to be traded so the pens can recoup massive amount of picks

That's not going for it, that's throwing in the towel. I don't think Sid is up for throwing in the towel.

You know even hoping for a trade is pointless. This coach has f***ed over so many new players it's hilarious how the Pens media blames the players each time and never the coach and right now he's ruined a f***ing 3x Norris winner, f***ing comical.

But moving Malkin to wing to bring in a 2nd line C even like a Trochek is what most of us felt would be a great idea for a long time, but then even Sullivan would shit all over that some how.

Nothing is worth it as a fix as long as the biggest X factor remains - Sullivan.

I think when Dubas was hired and his ideas of hiring amazing staff and what not, that most felt Sullivan might wake up but yeah you can't change ignorance.

Edit:

Because I would go after someone like Adam Henrique (yeah still beating that dead horse), he's a free agent, still has wheels, still a solid 2-way C and can produce. But in usage of say putting him with Malkin on the wing and someone like Rust or Rakell on the right side or even Puustinen, it's a different look. But Sullivan would f*** that up. Dylan Strome would have been a great add for that same reason, you throw him with Geno moved to the wing so he can just produce and not worry about other shit...

See, I think that having the oldest team in the league is throwing in the towel…it’s pretty clear that young, much younger, legs would have helped us tremendously in a number of our losses…obviously skilled players too but we’d be in better shape losing Jake and gaining three young but not as good forwards than re-signing him, particularly if Rust, Rakell and Smith are still your other wingers…we can’t have Sid and G surrounded by all 30+ players to help them along lol

Speaking of Strome, f*** even Ryan Strome, he's a player that makes plays and you put him with someone like Geno to make his life easier, you have someone that thrives at just creating offense as his role with Geno. Rather than putting turds like Colin White as some sort of f***ing option.

Look at Dallas and I have mentioned this before - Benn, Seguin, both looked kind of done until Dallas reduced their roles in the top 6 offense and added them into lines with more youth. Most laughed that Benn was on the third line and that Seguin was playing 2nd line, etc.

Benn is still on the 3rd line with Steel, Seguin is on the 2nd line with Duchene. What makes the Pens so immune to doing the same f***ing things?

Sullivan.

He refuses to move Malkin to wing, he refuses to use more youth, the team is the oldest in the league because the coach is comfortable with a roster like that because he then doesn't have to teach or develop them or guide them in any meaningful way like Tocchet did for him for 2yrs.

He moves Malkin to wing for 3 shifts - usually at the 17 minute mark of a period when everyone is tired the ice is f'd and then changes his mind again. Dude is adverse to anything outside of his 'pairs' theory I'm sure he'll write a book about some day.

This board could construct and ice a better team than that organization. Moving Malkin to wing HAS been talked about by several of us for several years now. Revolutionary? No, we have f***ing eyeballs and watch the team year in and year out.
- We've noticed the wheels falling off for Geno. We've noticed that he can't carry the mail but for 3 shifts a game. We've noticed that the two things that he's still elite on is his shot and passing.....so uhh...wing with Sid makes a F ton of sense. Trading for a support piece makes a F ton of sense.....but nah - Reilly Smith + paid local media mouthpieces talking about all their chemistry is the route we take. Then just continue to double down on it.

So yeah, now more than ever - cash in on Jake. Recoup his production + (because I think Sid's numbers would also boost) by shifting Geno up to L1. You now have an elite line 1 in hockey and are left with the hole in L2 - that you frankly had before because Geno can't carry those guys. Bring in that 2C of Kadri or whomever and revamp that way. As Sid/Geno age they could shift to L2 at some point or whatever. But for the next 2.5 years they could absolutely anchor a dangerous line in the NHL.

Honest question: do people like watching this team play as it is currently set up?

I am not talking about rooting for the team. I mean, do people actually like watching this style of hockey? If it was any other team playing like we play, would you still watch the game?
The style of play is fine, if you have the guys to execute it. We don’t have that anymore.

It is wild how boring Erik Karlsson is on this team, and we should all be realizing that this is not something that should be happening.

Karlsson was really fun the first 12-15 games. Now he looks like he's trying to impersonate Letang

Makes me wonder the kind of player Tanger would be if he played under a different coach on a different team during his prime

Hes now the type of player Sullivan likes, beaten down and manipulated into being a shell of his former self.

Letang could have easily won the Smythe in 2016.

Letang was a badass in 21-22 as well, though.

I have plenty bad to say about the coach/system whatever but Tanger seems largely unaffected if not downright thriving at times.

You think a year older Geno and Sid would do better with less help?
