Penner out, Toffoli in. From today's practice

Jon Rosen‏@lakingsinsider27m
Penner, Richardson, Drewiske, Bernier staying on for extra work.

He also said that for some shifts during practice, Carter was on the 1st line and Williams at LW w/ Richrds and Toffoli on the 2nd.

Richards need to be at center to be effective, so that makes sense. But having Carter and Kopi on the same line is putting all youir eggs in one basket. Hawks put their best out there to cover that line and shut them down. But I guess Sutter wants to try anything to jump start the offensive. I would have like to have seen how Toffoli played with Kopi.

As long as they play well and get at least 1 pt.

Maybe sutter wants Richards to shoot more, so splitting him and carter up may make hom do this.
Worth a shot

Well I would of taken out someone else instead of Penner but I guess it would of been too much of a mix

Expected this. Chicago is a smaller team, and have some guys that can motor. Penner has been doing just fine, but if there is a time to sit him it's this game. Toffoli isn't that much faster, but he will get a little more room to navigate this game vs. one against Phoenix, SJ, or Vancouver.

Penner just seems to be one of those players that can show you some outstanding skill, but follow that up with some bone-headed play...all in the same shift of course.

And Sutter just doesn't like him. He seems to have less patience with him than anybody. Either via trade or over the summer, I think his days as a King are numbered.

Yeeeesh.

I understand the need to start TT, but why is it always Penner that sits??? How about scratching Fraser and moving Lewis to 4C?

Exactly. Penner adds something on the line when Fraser is just a name on.

King or Nolan can take 4th C too.

You just don't mess with the dominant line that is King/Stoll/Lewis.

That line has been awesome. That is probably why Penner is sitting.

Nolan has the speed to keep up with the Hawks. Fraser does what a 4th line center is suppose to do.

Sorry, but dominant??? Yes, they have been better, but NOT CLOSE to being called a dominant. Penner's just an easy guy to pick on and that's about it. Especially if you consider that TT plays RW and DP plays LW.

That line is dominant on the fore-Check. There is a reason Sutter hasn't messed with it.

The way people talk about King on this board you would think he is Penner.

Penner is probably not even sitting cause of play reasons. It probably has too do with speed.

The Hawks play an unreal pace in the 1st period.

That's how the Hawks beat teams, you have to get out of the 1st period, without being scored on three times.

i agree, i think Stoll's line has been exceptional lately. they have been tenacious and in the face of the opposition. they are a very good mix of smarts-size-speed, that gives the opponent fits.

Nolan i don't sit either. his compete level is off the charts compared to Penner.

Fraser does what he is expected to do in the #4C role and you don't sit him for a winger that is known to take nights off.

Penner overall the past 5-10 games i think has played very good hockey, but matching up against CHI i think TT is a better fit. he is more agile and quicker than Penner. he isn't the best skater in the world, but i will take him in contest against Penner. TT's issue tonight will be smart gap coverage and lanes, he can't let CHI forwards press and exploit them. big test for the kid tonight

personally i wouldn't mind see Richardson in the line up tonight, bit more experience and speed to counter CHI

Well, Sutter hasn't messed with the first line either, but that doesn't mean it's because they've been dominant. Heck, who knows, maybe Penner will be traded soon and he needs to be a HS.

Sutter changed the First line in practice today. Carter was on it.

Fraser doesn't really do anything. He's the least important player on the line.

Whats the beef with Colin fraser ?

The guy is a fourth line Center, he does what he is suppose to do.

Hasn't been a minus player since march 12.

It's time to put Penner out to pasture. I was incensed at his lazy shift change in the last game while the puck was still in play. The man is sometimes oblivious of things.

The coaching staff called from the bench for him to make a line change after an already long shift.
But hey...you should feel free to go on with that whole ridiculous claim.

And fyi the bench made 3-4 horrible calls for line changes during the game.

It's not a ridiculous claim to say he lazily and slowly skated off the ice during a line change whether or not the coaching staff called him off or not. I saw 2 times myself him coast to the benches while the puck was in prime offensive play.
