Should be a good one. The Leafs have lost 7-1 and 2-0 to the Penguins this year so I expect them to come out wanting to prove something.

Leafs Lines:

Campbell Starts

Penguins Lines:

Their D pairs the other day were

Dumoulin-Letang
Pettersson-Marino
Matheson-Ruhwedel

Go Leafs Go

Will be great to see some (of you) folks (hopefully) in the stands tonight!

Should be a good game, and I do think we owe these guys some sort of competivie effort... after losing 7-1 and 2-0 so far this season.

2nd line has to be better, way better.

Hope the defenisive pairs do not include Muzzin + Holl unless in a PK situation.

This should be an entertaining game as the last time we played the Pens they didn't have Crosby nor Malkin in the line-up and were playing mainly an AHL like team.

Now we get to see the stars go head to head in this one.

Worth the price of admission.

PIT is a very good team that plays the right way and are extremely dangerous even if their stars aren't quite as unstoppable as they used to be.

I don't think I've felt worse about any Leafs performances this year than the two games against PIT - they took care of us with ease both times, shutting down our attack and springing odd man rush after odd man rush all night long.

Need to see much more from the Leafs in this one. Keefe better have figured out and explained to them what PIT was doing so effectively.

Ya those games were hard to watch. Wonder how the leafs perform defensively against fast teams with quick transition. Seems like the leafs generally have a pretty slow defense now with Rielly/Dermott the only really good skaters with the rest average or below average. At some point with the really active defenders the leafs use i think they will need a really athletic guy in their top 4. Preferably not playing with Rielly to have a defender with some recovery speed on each pairing.

Capacity limits have been lifted for restaurants, gyms and events in Ontario. But NHL games will be 500 until Feb 21 and 50% thereafter. Meanwhile the States is full capacity since Sep 2021.

Can't imagine Owners being too happy about the discrepancy.

They announced a few days that capacity goes to 50% starting tonight,

Maple Leafs, Senators to Return to 50 Percent Capacity on Thursday

March 14 is the current date for 100% but I’ve hard speculation that could move up to March 1.

Dermott is playing tonight. Guess there is no corresponding move as of now for Lily to come back up.

I think the Pens may be the most under rated team in the league this year. Very well coached. Good structure with some game breakers. Leafs coming off a long west coast trip isn't great. But feeling a 4-3 Leafs win.

I wonder if he's going to try squeezing Sandin up into the top 4 somehow.

You're thinking of the 1st game we played them and got embarrassed 7-1. The last game we played them, they had their full NHL team other than Malkin (Crosby played) and only beat us 2-0 which was all first period so at least that was a huge improvement from the 1st game.

These are the type of teams that we have to beat to prepare for the playoffs because no matter what, we're only going to face elite teams in the playoffs (all rounds). We have a few of these tougher teams coming up in Feb (Blues, Wild, Caps) with a few easy (on paper) ones in between (Habs, Jackets, Wings).

It's teams like that where the Leaf blueline's lack of skill comes to the fore.
