Seen some of your work previously and I like what you bring to the table. What are your thoughts on Kaedan Korczak? As a Leaf fan, I have a strong interest in him.

Interesting list. Only question I have is why so low on Podkolzin?

That was my question too...

I think Podko is very talented. He belongs in the top 10 talent wise. He also does very well in tournaments where he is the most use forward. Like the Hlinka, WJAC-19, WJC-18 and WHC-17.

My problem with him is that I question if he can be as effective when he'll start his career in the NHL with limited TOI.

When I watch him play in tournaments, he likes to bring the puck from his own zone, down to the other zone, and most of the time, finishing the play and try to score a goal. Nothing wrong with that. He has the abilities to do so. I'm just wondering what will happen when competition will be bigger, stronger, faster and more aware of that. Can he adapt to a system?

Also, I really don't like the fact that he plays so little during 17-18 and 18-19 in Russia. He played 21 games in 17-18 in Russia U17 and so far 18 games throughout three leagues. He plays all the tournaments, but for me, it's not where you grow your game when you are a hockey player. It's through a long season with at least 50+ games.

Also the Russian factor. Only 40 russians played in the NHL this year compared to 412 for Canadians and 250 for Americans. 92 for Sweden and 51 for Finland. And I can narrow down the list to only 17 active russian forwards with more than 23 games.

I'd be more high on him if he was playing in the CHL or in one league for the whole year with a lot of games. Think like Kravtsov (NYR) last year.

But yeah, he is a legit top 10 forward. I'm just cautious with him. That's why he is 31st. He belongs in the 1st round. I see him as a very risky pick. But one you can't let out of the 1st.

Well he's just so young now and full of abilities. I can see him becoming a great NHLer.

Yes and you should hehe. A right handed 6'3 defenseman is money. But he's not money just for his position and size obviously lol.

Very mobile, nice gap when he defend, not shy of the physical play, nice hockey IQ, can pass, can shot and play in every situation.

I didn't include him, but yeah he can be a legit 1st rounder. I'm waiting for the end of the season in his case. He already produce more point than last year, which is a an excellent indicator that tell us that he progress.

Podkolzin has indicated that he intends to develop his game fully in the KHL much like guys like Tarasenko and Kaprizov have/are. It does provide a lot of risk as he may never come over if he gets to comfortable there and even if he does you have no way of controlling how he develops there. But in the end the risk may be worth the reward for some team. I think he's a top 5 talent but he may go lower due to him being quite a few years away. I reckon a team with a history of developing Russian players and the patience to wait for him will likely take him. Guys who play with that kind of speed and skill often don't have issues transferring that skill to the NHL as long as they continue developing wherever they are.

I have seen him 3-4 times at the beginning of the year and he just had "it" for me and he's been my guy since then.

Really like him. I'll take my time before putting him in the 1st round. He won't crack my top 20. But certainly there's a spot for him between 20 and 31.

He shows sign of improvment.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and guess that you are Canadian? A bit of Canadian player bias going on here.

Yes Canadian.

Also, stats shows that more than half the NHL players are from USA and CAN.

please stop with the russian factor

rankings are about the skill and potential of players, russian factor shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

(All the players that played at least one game in the NHL this year)

I mean the numbers don't lie gentlemen. You can cleary see that USA and CAN are the leading countries in NHLer.

I have nothing against Russians.

That completely ignores my point. Rankings are about skill and potential, I don't care about how many Russians are in the NHL.

Should we forecast a KHL bias though? I mean we've seen guys like Kucherov drop due to perceived issues with Russians, getting them over etc.

Or do we rank guys (properly) and let the NHL GMs shoot themselves in the foot?

Personally I lean towards doing a proper ranking and then trying to forecast Russian bias in a mock draft.

Interesting, because I just started looking into Podkolzin myself. Haven't watched him at all until recently and this was what immediately stood out to me as well. He looks real good against junior-aged players being able to play that style. But I'm not sure how well it's gonna translate to the pros. Will he have enough time and space to play like that? Most likely not. I'm also not enamoured with his skating. He's kinda shifty and he seems to have a strong lower-body, making him hard to push off the puck, but I don't like his acceleration or explosiveness. That part of his skating needs to improve a lot if he wants to create separation at the NHL level. He kinda reminds me of Yakupov in his junior days, or a budget Stamkos. But I haven't seen a lot of him yet so I'm open to the possibility of being hilariously wrong.

So Fagemo goes from undrafted to first rounder, and ahead of Broberg and Soderstrom? While i think it was remarkable that Fagemo did not get drafted last season, and he shall absolutly be drafted this year. But that seems like a big leap.

Definitely see potentional in Fagemo being a first round drafty. I believe if I’m not wrong he’s on the First Line with Frolunda in the SHL. Haven’t watched him much but I hear nothing but great things about him. Was unfortunate he couldn’t commit to Halifax but I’m glad he’s doing very well. Great list and congrats on your success.
