New Jersey receives: Drew Helleson and 2023 second-round pick
This deal is more in the ballpark of something that could get done. Helleson is someone who could contribute in the near future and remain part of the team’s long-term plans. I’m not sure if the Avalanche would want to give up that much for Zacha, who could probably use a change in scenery, but this trade makes sense for the Devils.
Verdict: This could possibly work.

My thoughts: The Devils don't have RD prospects and they could use the second-round pick for another forward in the summer. The Avalanche get a versatile player who can be their 3rd line center or middle six winger. I think Zacha isn't their first option, and they rather trade Giroux or someone else better, but Zacha might be one option for them.
