It really is impossible not to like this kid. You can really see why Quinn worked so hard with hime this year. He just doesnt seem to have any ego.

Where does he fit on this team assuming we draft Kakko, that would be Kakko 1RW and Kravtsov 2RW.

I like Buch and he was really good down the stretch, just curious where he fits if not in the top 6.

I think Kravtsov can play LW too

I think one of Kakko/Kravtsov eventually moves to center. Kravtsov might be the most likely candidate based on his skating ability and shiftiness when transporting the puck up the ice. That being said, Quinn is big on earning ice time, so I wouldn't be surprised if both players start on the 2nd/3rd line and have to work their way up.

4 at $4.5 is about as far as I would go with Buchnevich. To me that's more than fair. So far he's proven to be a 40 point player. He hit 20 goals for the first time last year. He needs to shoot the puck more--be more selfish in that regard. Towards the end of last year he was doing that but if for some reason he stops doing that he's not going to be very effective. His first half last year was awful. In that respect I would like to see him showing us he gets it again this year before giving him the 4 X $4.5--unfortunately his contract has to be taken care of first.

I'm not sure I'm worried about losing Buch to unrestricted free agency--I think he wants to be a Ranger--that's what he knows. So I think he'd work with us even if we gave him a shorter 2 year deal.

Doubt Kakko & Kravtsov both stick in the top 6 early on. Maybe one or the other but its tough to make the transition to the NHL. Buch will probably be one of the top forwards for most of the year

Pretty sure his numbers were better playing LW this year.
Both Kakko and Kravtsov actually had better numbers at LW than RW this year. I think Kakko also had 4 goals and an assist in 4 games at C. Kravtsov looked good at C in the tournaments this year as well

Seeing where these guys slot is gonna be so interesting. I think there’s outside shot we give Kakko a look at C (though I think his game is better suited to wing), but I think there’s a better chance that Kravstov more easily makes the transition to center.

Not that these guys should be forced into a center role, they can just stay at wing for all I care, just given an opportunity to see if it jives with their game.

I wouldn't be shocked if both Kakko and Kravtsov were top 6 forwards for us next year and I'm not talking about after the deadline. I'm kind of expecting that from Kakko from the get go. He had no problem at the World Championships or in Liiga playing against men---he excelled in both. He's got comparable size and strength and better overall ability than Brady Tkachuk who had 22 goals and 45 points last year. If given the same kind of chance why wouldn't he do at least the same? Kravtsov was third on his KHL team in scoring despite playing a lot less games than the two highest. He was pretty much one of the top 10 prospects outside the NHL last year. Both should make an impact.

Dobber has this thing about 4th year players being breakout candidates and mentioned Buchnevich. I hope it's true. I like what I've seen so far this season!

He makes you scratch your head then follows it up with a crazy nice play like the pass to Kreider 2 min later. Have to take the good with the bad I guess.

At least the bad with him is not for a lack of trying... He's just a clumsy dude still trying to figure things out

Why is Buch's standard so high? How many players in the league don't make you scratch your head from time to time...even Panarin makes mistakes (in the D zone at times mind you).

For me, I see a lot of guys that play at a consistently high level, but then do the occasional thing to make you wonder about them. Buch, it has generally seemed the opposite--he (IMO) is rarely a dominant force for even a full period, but then he comes out and does some awesome shit that makes you wonder why he can't do that all the time.

Personally, I don't hold him to a higher standard than anyone else. I get just as frustrated with Kreider, for example. He's similar in that you know he can take over, but too often he's just doing his own thing, not being terribly impactful. I would say the same thing about Chytil, if he weren't so young.

He's hustling and working hard out there, whereas he used to dog it every couple of shifts or even games, which is encouraging.

So many factors that will determine these things. What do the Rangers get back in trades of a Kreider, or potentially Strome? Where do they end up in the upcoming draft? Do they make a deal for Puljujarvi? Does Chytil stick at center? Do they keep Buchnevich long term?

I somewhat understand, but to put things in perspective if CK put up 10 points in his first 13 games when he was 24 years old would we be scratching our heads or jumping for joy that he's figuring things out?
