His last regular season game will be almost a year ago since he last played December 14, 2023, so he's going to need some time to get going and patience will be needed with him.

I think putting him with 2 guys who can skate and do dirty work like Newhook/Evans would help him to start. Heineman has been good and deserves to stay in the lineup, so Dach will likely have to go back to C when Laine returns. Gally/Anderson have managed to make Dvorak look respectable so I am sure they could help Dach if he moves back to C.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Newhook - Evans - Laine
Anderson - Dach - Gallagher
Heineman - Dvorak - Armia
I would put Laine with Evans and Gallagher, our two best working guys since Day One.
Newhook can center Anderson and Dach. Both lines will play about the same amount of minutes anyway.

No Dach on PP.

PP1: 1st line + Laine + Matheson (or even better: Hutson)….

Laine moves to the #1 PP unit for me. His shot is far too deadly.

Dach gets bumped to second PP unit with Matheson.

For #1 Habs PP when Laine arrives....

Slaf - in front of net
Suzuki - bumper
Laine and Caufield on the half walls
Hutson - point

MSL: doesn't know how to run a PP, lets hope the team finds someone who does one day

They will start Laine on the 2nd pp unit
Hutson is finally going to have talent to work with on the pp
I don't think Davh has his spot locked up on MSL''s mind on pp2.

I could see him being replaced by Laine. But at least Hutson would be good for Dach if they play together on the second wave. Dach would just have to make sure he shoots enough.

Our PP is 11th this year. This is certainly not terrible.
I had no clue, thanks for bringing this up.

I feel having Hutson on the 2nd PP unit is helping a lot. He's making everyone in that unit look good. Reminds me of Markov in many ways.

Once Laine comes back it will bump a good player from the 1st unit to the 2nd and it will give that line more firepower.

He's too good for 2nd line duty. Maybe for a few games but someone else will take the backseat to him.

2nd pp unit:

Gallagher
Newhook Heineman/Armia Dach
Matheson

I think Demidov may get his start on the 2nd unit next year!

What in particular is it that is bothering you with how he coaches the PP? When comparing him to previous seasons PPs, I know it's still very young, it's the best we've seen and top11 so far this season.

I do believe it will get better when Laine returns and finds his fitness.

It's not very creative and its the same guy scoring for the most part. I want to see Slaf, Guhle, Hudson and others get more involved. All they do is try and set Cole up on the left side, Slaf looks bored. It may have picked up steam a bit, but I don't think it's that great of a PP that will last. Laine will help, no doubt.
