I think somebody is going to get a major bargain here.

He only played 5 games for Carolina but that's why he's interesting, because while he only played 5 games he scored 3 goals so the goal scoring is still there.

Any team with a quality medical staff that can get him right is going to get a 25+ goal scorer on a bargain contract

From a Carolina perspective, the assumption is that if we bring him back it will be at a very minimal number. He was good in his 5 games, but two Achilles injuries in a year is devastating and it's unprecedented for a major league athlete to come back successfully. Carrying his cap hit through the season kind of ended up ****ing over the Canes, so they would be looking for something more like a "prove it" contract.

Penguins have an opening at LW. And if Granlund gets moved we definitely a top 6 winger

Would rather get Domi but if not Patches could work at the right price

Tough to say.
His last injury looked like it kinda just popped out of nowhere. One moment everything's fine, next he's on the ice in serious pain

given his injury, recovery takes longer.

I can see someone 2ho is a playoff team signs him to a low contract with the pkan to LTIR him and look at it a a deadline acquisition.

I expect he could be a bargain on a 1-year deal (if he's eligible for a bonus-laden contract, even better). I could see him sign with a non-playoff team in the hopes of being a trade deadline addition for a playoff team, if he's been healthy and performing, and if it was a contract with health-related bonuses, they would be reached while playing with the non-playoff team, which then takes the cap hit for the bonuses, so whoever acquires him gets a very cheap topliner.

I'm hoping Montreal does the same thing with Monahan. Frankly, I'd try this with both Monahan and Pacioretty if he wants to come play under Habs new management.

You heard it here first, folks. It’s just that easy to come back from a double achilles tear.

He is eligible for the performance bonus contract on a 1 year deal:

  1. The player has signed a one-year contract after returning from a long-term injury (has played 400 or more games, and spent 100 or more days on the Injured Reserve in the last year of their most recent contract).

My expectation following his second tear was "he may try to come back, but this is probably a career for him."

I would want to see him 30 days on skates in game shape, skating game conditions, full contact before offering a contract. I think #3 is more likely than not.
