All I know is that if we somehow win a Stanley Cup this year after just being off the NHL radar since 2012, after the Rags were the overhyped darling that everybody wanted to be traded to and that every pundit was predicting to win the Cup EVERY YEAR for quite some time, Rangers fans will go into witness protection. They will be shell shocked. Gobsmacked. Paralyzed.

Not that it's likely to happen but if it somehow all comes together. WOW

If we win a Stanley Cup this year, a statue of Ray Shero should be placed outside next to Marty's.

Oiler fan here chiming in on Maroon. Great character guy, fun personality, has some surprisingly good hands for a big guy and is a monster along the boards when he puts in the effort but he needs to play with skill to be effective. He tends to float a lot when he's playing on a lower line.
In any event, it's a great pickup for that price and good luck to you guys. One of my favorite secondary teams.

Joey A, Davies, Rykov (even tho hes gone), Maltsev, Walsh all looking like great value so far. Only pick I wasnt that crazy about was Bastian but realize he may take longer to develop

For all this talk that, "Maroon's numbers are inflated due to Connor McDavid", which I've heard approximately 3,827 times in the last 10 hours, his points per 60 is actually WORST while playing with McDavid. Stick a fork in that narrative, it's done.

In this case though, Maroon is a pending UFA. EDM isn't making the playoffs, so it was take the third or nothing at all.

Shero got great value while other teams were paying huge prices (dat Tatar trade... WTF?) but in the absence of other buyers, EDM has one more 2019 3rd rounder.

When the Grabner trade happened I went a little off the deep end because I like Rykov, but once I calmed down a little, I thought 'okay, if we're going to load up for a run this year, let's get another piece. I was thinking along the lines of Kane, or maybe even EK, but this is great. We get to replace another stiff with an entirely decent scoring wing that has size and can win board battles. If we get Gibbons back and Bratt finds his game again, this team can be very, very dangerous. Adding Marjo for the playoffs would be the icing on the cake.

My favorite thing is when players are criticized for playing with good linemates. I guess your points only count if you're playing with Devante Smith-Pelly and Jacob Josefson. Even if he had played most of the year with 97, he still scored those goals. What, McD was bouncing the puck off his stick? Please.

He's a career .5 ppg guy, but skewed towards goals. That's actually top 6 production if you look up the stats (i.e. top 180 forwards in the league). We actually only have 3 forwards that are significantly above .5 ppg. Hall, Hischier, and Palmieri. Everyone else is right around .5ppg or significantly less.

This guy ain't no plug. Plus, he's filling a dire need that we have, so there's a very good chance he could gel here and produce more than he did in Edmonton or Anaheim.

I know the Oiler fans say he needs skill, but idk. Just seems like his style fits there better.

When this deal went down and I looked him up I was convinced that between his stat lines and what was given up for everyone else yesterday that JQ was involved in this. Add to the fact the TSN trade tracker crashed and this board was down most of the day and I thought for sure that's what was going to be given up. Luckily it wasn't.
