Hextall said he is going to keep picks and keep young players. Why does everybody think he's going to trade several 22 year olds and first rounders?

That is the EXACT opposite of what he said he wants to do and how they did it in LA.

People need to stop with this misconception. Hextall never said he wouldn't trade young players or picks. He said he wouldn't trade them for older players.

Some combination of #17 OV + NHL players- Simmonds/the Schenn brothers/ Read and/or a prospect might interest Florida.

If Hextall could come up with a reasonable package for #1 OV without trading Giroux, Couts or Voracek, he should consider making the deal.

If he cannot move upto #1 OV, due to Florida's demands for the pick.
Then Hextall should trade up into the top #10 OV if possible.
Then he would have better drafting options, and Florida might be willing to swap picks if the Flyers added the right incentive.

If they were trading up I think inside the top #10 is where I would want to be. It does not really matter that much between 6-10 IMO as the 6-10 players are similar in ability.

Ekblad
Reinhart
Bennett
Draisaitl
Dal Colle

Will 90% be the top 5.

Then:

Nylander
Ehlers
Virtanen
Ritchie
Fleury

IMO are the next 5... then in terms of talent a there is a drop to the next ~15-20 players who are all kind of interchangeable to some degree depending on preference. Though Fleury is kind of in the middle between these four and the rest IMO but I put him in this group due to him being quite obviously the 2nd best D man in the draft.

Not that there are none who are slightly better or worse or I prefer, but there is no daylight between the rest. Guys like Pastrnak, Kempe, McKeown, DeAngelo, Honka and Ho-Sang likely all go after 20... but I cannot see that much of a difference between them and guys like Kapanen, Fiala, Perlini and McCann (though I do really like McCann and Kapanen...) who likely go in the 10-15 range.

Surprised Karlsson has disappeared so much off radars... he has not impressed ofc, but there is talent there. If he gets to mid 2nd round he could end up a steal. He has upside, good skating, gritty, can get points and is versatile.

please no no, they want a crazy return for that pick and i'm scared that Ekblad might only become a decent Top pairing Dman.

Hextall has talked before about his belief in building a team down the middle. With his plans of moving Schenn to the wing (possibly), I really doubt he wants to trade one of his centers.

He's also talked about holding on to young players and letting them develop, so I'm hoping he's true to his word on that.

Also, I don't think I've ever seen the Flyers not involved in a big trade rumor. I try to take these things with a grain of salt.

Going to take a lot for #Flyers to move from 17th to first from #FlaPanthers .. But Dale could package a player or two to make a blockbuster

George Richards @GeorgeRichards · 1m

Names floated from #Flyers folk regarding #FlaPanthers top pick: The Schenns, Read, Simmonds and Vinny. Phil has interest in Gudbranson.
