Hextall said he is going to keep picks and keep young players. Why does everybody think he's going to trade several 22 year olds and first rounders?
That is the EXACT opposite of what he said he wants to do and how they did it in LA.
I'm pretty sure he just said he wouldn't trade them for older players. Evander Kane is only 22 and Ekblad is 18.
Trading multiple pieces for 1 player doesn't help create depth.
If he thinks the #17 pick + player is worth Kane, then ok. You basically have to figure out is Kane better than who you get there.
Getting from 17 to 1 would cause a disaster of assets. You are talking a main piece like Schenn/Couts/Simmons + 17 + Morin/Hagg/Ghost + Future Picks
Not saying I would do it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hextall is looking at it differently.
I'd be surprised if FLA trades #1. Every year there is all this intrigue about whether or not the team with the pick will trade the pick and I honestly don't remember the last time it happened. Sedins?
You are missing the point. The first post was reiterating that there was a proposal that was "above and beyond" for the #1 overall. Secondly, I was a big Couterier fan a few years back. If he can be part of a package that gets you a legit scoring winger, then you do it! Runner up for the Selke? Great! We need to put the puck in the net. I would love for him to return to his rookie season form but he looks like Hanzues reborn.I don't think you realize what you are saying, sir. Please aquire better knowledge of hockey. I'm putting this as nicely as possible.

@FPTimCampbell: Follow to Thurs circus -- hearing that #NHLFlyers have next to no interest in Evander Kane of the #NHLJets. #bn

Don't know where to put this, but for next year's draft, the first 3 spots will be determined by lottery.

2003, when Florida traded the #1 (Marc-Andre Fleury) and #73 (Daniel Carcillo) to Pittsburgh for #3 (Nathan Horton), #55 (Stefan Meyer), and Mikael Samuelsson. The #1 pick has been traded 5 times in NHL history, three of them by Florida.
Haha. Wow. That explains a lot...
For real though, I don't see it happening, but if the price is two picks and a prospects as it was back then, there is going to be another team with better picks and prospects than what we are offering.
This is going to be an incredible night with the amount of players who are available tonight. Going to have some major fireworks.
