Pittsburgh swapped the 3rd pick for the 1st pick with Florida in 2003.

Carolina swapped the 8th pick for the 4th pick with Columbus in 2004.

Toronto swapped the 5th pick for the 7th pick with New York(I) & New York(I) swapped the 7th pick for the 9th pick with Nashville in 2008.

--------------

These were the only times a top 10 pick has been swapped in the last 10 years. You very rarely see a top 10 pick swapped let alone a swap for the #1 pick & if it does the picks aren't that far apart.

Unless you add like a Voracek or a Couturier to the table Florida's not even listening because #1 to #17 is way too big of a jump.

I like Milano more and more every time I see or read something new about him. He's got some insane skill.

If we get any one of Milano, Fiala, Vrana, or Virtanen I will be through the roof excited.

Milano should be at 17, or around there.

Should be, but I could just as easily see a team loving his game and picking him early (like us with Morin and WPG with Morrissey last year).

Then there's also the part where we have to draft the guy if he's even available. My fear is that we jump on Kapanen if he's available. I'm not a fan of his.

I'll never complain given our scouting staff's history in the first round, but I'll be disappointed if we go for someone just because of the bloodlines.

Milano is going to be a scary good forward imo. Said it many times, but I hope that the Flyers go for offensive ability as their principle target this year.

Milano's actually bigger than Giroux was during his draft year.

Milano: 5'11.5" 183 lbs.
Giroux: 5'11.5" 169 lbs.

He still goes into the dirty areas & fights for pucks so there's hope the Flyers will take him if he's on the board.

this is gonna be an intersting draft

kinda weird, similar to the nfl draft. after clowney, nothing was set in stone, and teams had very different draft boards. some odd guys fell like maziel.

dont worry their will be some very good guys sitting at 17. and dont work with hexy as gm and our scouts, we will nail a good pick. if their is a guy in rd 2 sitting at a certain point, we can trade up, for a decent price.

Can't believe nobody here has mentioned Conner Bleackley. He plays a sound two-way game and has underrated offensive potential. Good size and tremendous character. He's my favorite player in the draft and has a decent chance of still being on the board when the Flyers select. He's one of those guys who just "gets it" and to me is a sure bet to have a solid NHL career.

there are a lot of non sexy picks in this draft. Bleackley and mccann are in that category for me.

tuch fits the size and speed aspect that hexy is looking for . I like Milano but i don't know how effective he is going to be .

I like Tuch, but there is no doubt Milano is the better player. I wouldn't mind Tuch, but he doesn't seem like he'll be an offensive catalyst like Milano can be. More of a really nice complement to other skilled players rather than a guy who can create stuff on his own.

That's obviously not a bad player to have, but you have to go for the higher upside between the two which is clearly Milano.

That said, the two will have all kinds of chemistry spending a few more years with each other at BC. Would be a total coup for a team to walk away with both of them. I think they're both extremely low risk prospects given the future they will have at BC.

McCann is a guy who I think will have his stock skyrocket next season. Whoever picks him will be very, very pleased, imo. As far as centers in the mid round range go, he's my guy.

I like Tuch as well.

My drafting philosophy is more akin to the King's idea of a built team. Speed is okay, but guys who can skate well and are a bit bigger are better. Big guys beat up little guys.

Tuch seems to fit that. Plus, he fits in with some organization comments of late, such as needing forwards that can dig the puck out for the guys expected to score and not being too small. Flyers need to be a faster and stronger team 5on5.

The Flyers had Michael McCarron #23 on their draft board last year. He was the big forward out of the US program.

Tuch is a lot more skilled & a lot better of a skater than McCarron. He's going to need some time like McCarron & most other big forwards but fortunately is going to a great college program so he won't be forced to go the OHL route by default like McCarron was.

I could see Tuch being high on the Flyers board & even though I like Milano better I wouldn't be mad at all if Tuch was the pick.
