That's an asinine statement if I've ever seen one. Could it be better? Yeah. Are there some pieces that don't fit? Yeah, but overall it's a good group. ****, how many other teams had 7 20 goal scorers?

It really isn't. What wins in this league is speed and possession, and we don't have forwards that are capable of either. We have the slowest/worst possession collection of forwards of any of the playoff teams.

I hate to say it but our centers are among the slowest in the league.

Look at kings and rangers , if i were to rank our top 3 centers in terms of speed to those two teams it would look like this.

Carter
kopitar
Brassard
Stepan
stoll
giroux
Brad Richards
Schenn
Couturier

:help:

Only ones you got right are Carter and Couturier.

And if you're suggesting you would take B. Richards, Stepan, and Brassard over Giroux, Couturier, and Schenn, then let me reiterate...

Stepan isn't that fast. He's actually pretty slow. Giroux is faster than most of those listed.
2 forwards.. great argument. kopitar, williams, gaborik, carter, toffoli pearson, lewis, .
Toffoli is a bad skater.

Skating isn't everything. I do agree that this team needs to get faster overall, though.

Giroux was faster than most, but these past two years his speed has seemed to have fallen off.

in terms of speed

for the love of god read. seriously.
You said speed and possession win games, and you said we are the worst playoff team in those two categories. You're the one making the implication, not me.

If you would take Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier over Richards, Stepan, and Brassard, then that pretty much blows your premise up, doesn't it?

I think people got a little too caught up in it being Sami Kapanen's son and gave him more benefit of the doubt than he probably deserved. I like the player still, but could definitely see him being there early in the second round.

I would agree with this, he got the benefit of doubt playing with a terrible FEL team, then got hurt & didn't play for the U20's, & then had a rather average at best U18 which led to his stock dropping.

So basically most of the lists are pretty varied and it doesn't seem like there's a set order after the top 6 or so...

I wonder how the GMs in front of us view the players and what options we're going to have at our pick, it's possible they we'll have a pretty wide selection with a few players we didn't expect to fall to us.

Which is why there is little point in trading up.

Some under the radar day 2 dmen that I've been reading up on from the Black Book. I'd be interested in them.

Daniel Walcott, LD, Armada (QMJHL) 5'11 168 lbs. Ranked 91 overall.

Excellent skating dman who loves to rush the puck up the ice. Plays PK and PP. Sounds a little like Gostisbehere

Blake Siebenaler, RD, Niagra (OHL) 6'01 190 lbs Ranked 85 overall.

Excellent skater with offensive upside. Big shot from the point. Needs to be more consistent in the dzone

Michael Prapavessis, LD, OJHL, 6'01 180 lbs Ranked 82 overall.

Very offensively skilled dman. Best attribute is high hockey IQ. Very adept passer with good vision. Comfortable with puck on stick when facing forecheckers.

I always thought Kopitar is a rather slow skater. Powerful but not really fast. Brayden Schenn is also faster than Brad Richards.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If we stay put we should get a very nice player at 17.

Tuch
Milano
Virtanen
Fleury
Sanheim

Any one of these 5 Ill be ecstatic and one of them should fall to us.

Really hoping for Conner Bleackley at 17. You're looking at a Jarret Stoll / Mike Fisher type of player here. If he goes towards the end of the first round as most are projecting, there are going to be a number of teams kicking themselves in several years for passing him over.

We already have Laughton.

If Perlini is really available at 17 I'll be ecstatic if they pick him.

My top 10 players I would want in this draft are

Ekblad
Dal Colle
Ehlers
Virtanen
Ritchie
Perlini
Milano
Fleury
Tuch
Sanheim

No interest in Fiala or Vrana at all.

Laughton's a similar prospect who we took recently. I rather try to get a different skill set than that at #17.

I also like Fiala and Fabbri but I could see them both being taken before 17.

I don't believe you can have too many big, sturdy, two way forwards with good hockey sense and tremendous compete levels. Look at the Kings - they're loaded with those types of players. And Bleackley's a guy I can't possibly see busting.

Problem is the Flyers have no young skilled wingers. Its fine if your team has few two way guys but our pipeline had zero skilled forwards.
