If the following players were still on the board, how would you rank them?

Sonny Milano
Dylan Larkin
Kevin Fiala
David Pastrnak
Alex Tuch
Jakub Vrana
Haydn Fleury
Travis Sanheim
Roland McKeown

probably would get a ton of different answers but personally I am starting to get on the Alex Tuch bandwagon. If you are looking to draft a winger with that 1st rounder. Some around here love Milano as well

I honestly think it would be hard for us to make a bad pick out of any of those players. IMO if Fleury drops to 17 you take him, otherwise I'd go for Milano or Larkin as my top guys. Tuch is an intriguing option as well.

Sanheim. I like him and his skill set. Tuch as well.

I just want players who can skate and have skill. Is that too much to ask for?

Fleury almost has the same birthday as I do. I don't know much about him honestly but being that he will be 18 I am guessing it will be another Morin situation where he may not be here for several seasons. That is fine tho. if he is the right pick at the time take him.

I would go.

Haydn Fleury
Sonny Milano
Kevin Fiala
Alex Tuch
Jakub Vrana
Travis Sanheim
Dylan Larkin
David Pastrnak
Roland McKeown

Thats how I would go. As most know I am not on the Sanheim wagon. Most scouts rate him low except Button (waiting for Bobby Macs). I like how he skates good and is smart but he is known to not use his body at all, and offensive skills are ok. I think there will be too many good forward to pass up at that pick to reach for a defender. I dont think he's going to be that much better than the 2nd tier of defenders. Maybe Im wrong and in a few years from now he is dominating but he showed abit too little for me this past season to hop on the train.

I have Milano/Fiala/Vrana virtually tied. Vrana's really intriguing to me. Plays a lot like Voracek except his first instinct is to shoot (so maybe Hossa is a better comparable).

I also don't think any of the defenders are enough of a sure bet to justify them over the high potential forwards on this list. I'd rank the forwards like this:

Milano
Vrana
Fiala

Tuch
Pastrnak
Larkin

Though there's little separation and my opinion changes daily at this point.

I just bought Hockey Prospect Black Book tonight and they have Vrana at #30.

Good offensive tools but not good defensively.

NHL scouts seemed mixed on him as well. One really like him "he is our top Euro" but another said that "I wouldn't touch him until the 2nd round".

Im not a big fan of Tuch and the more I think about it I think we should draft a ton of defenseman because you win with defense. Our forward core is young and will be good for awhile. The only defensemen I take at 17 though are Fleury or Sanheim. I'd prefer Fiala or Milano or Barbashev if we go winger. No more Centers ffs.

OUr forward core is not good. Its a bad mix of players that dont complement one another well.

Not true. One decent LW makes the forward corps one of the best in the league.

Just because Vinny and Brayden don't play well together doesn't mean the rest are damned.

Anybody have any thoughts on (later rounds 3+)

Clark Bishop- seems to have an unreal motor (a centre we don't 'need')
Alex Peters - shutdown guy who can skate (not that we need it)

I'm starting to like this Travis Sanheim guy.

6’3, 189 lb. Good shot, good skater and good passer but a bit raw.

First 31 games, 2 assists and a +6. Then: 36 games, 27 points and a +19.

U18 WJC: .Tied for the team lead in points (6) with his Calgary Hitman teammate, Jake Virtanen. Got named by opposing coaches as one of Canada’s three best players.

I am hoping one of the forwards-Virtanen or Milano- falls to us and we take them, but if we take Sanheim I wont be mad at all.

Yeah, I'm really crossing my fingers that one of Virtanen, Ritchie or Perlini falls to 17 for some reason, but if that doesn't happen, I'd be OK with taking Sanheim.

Between Sanheim, Morin, Ghostisbehere and Hagg one of them has to end up being a top pairing guy right? Please?

This is a link to Alex Tuch's profile. Its a little over the top. Almost like his agent wrote it but if 85% of this is true then he's another guy I wouldn't mind taking.

6'3.5" and 213lbs

He controls his size exceedingly well, he skates with an edge and always reads the play seconds before it happens. He protects the puck like a fortress, there is no way anybody will be able to touch the puck or take it off his stick without being barreled over.

He is a very smart hockey player- NHL IQ.

Miraculous passes and has a laser of a slapshot, and a quick, accurate wrister that he gets off mid-stride. He is always able to find the net.

It goes on and on how great he is but again if it 85% true he might look ok in O&B. it says he's a C/RW. We have an abundance of those but he may be BPA at 17.

My only problem with that, is look at subban, drafted in 07, wasn't a regular until 2010, 3 years after. If ghost turns into that then we won't have to wait as long, but were looking at 2-4 years at the very least to have one of those top two defensemen. I don't know if the flyers will be prepared to wait that long, because giroux won't be around forever... If we can't get a top defensemen in the next 4/5 years we've likely wasted his prime and who knows, he might be traded.

Kapanen really did drop like a rock.

I think people got a little too caught up in it being Sami Kapanen's son and gave him more benefit of the doubt than he probably deserved. I like the player still, but could definitely see him being there early in the second round.

I see you guys adding a big American come draft day.

17. Philadelphia Flyers - Alex Tuch - US NTDP - RW

Philadelphia happily adds a big, strong forward in Alex Tuch. He's 6'3, plays a heavy game and is committed to play at Boston College. He has nice reach, a nice set of hands and pro-ready size. He seems like a great fit for the type of player the Flyers tend to target.

If not Tuch: Sonny Milano

That's an asinine statement if I've ever seen one. Could it be better? Yeah. Are there some pieces that don't fit? Yeah, but overall it's a good group. ****, how many other teams had 7 20 goal scorers?
