Interesting that Weegar isn't returning to juniors and Rob Madore did in fact earn a camp invite.

isn't weegar too old for juniors? oO

what i reacted the most to is that gudbranson is only 198 lbs while barkov is a mother f'ing 6'3/209...

barkov is one of the heaviest guys and probably one of the most skilled too. nasty...

Weeg is 19, but he turns 20 in January ... I don't know the cut off date, but you may be right.

Clemmensen is the same height as Markstrom?? He never seemed it.

NHL.com has Clemmer at 6'3 and Markstrom at 6'6, so I'm pretty sure that the height they gave was wrong. In fact I'm sure Clemmensen is shorter than Markstrom, unless Markstrom has that Benjamin Button thing going on.

It's very possible they listed his drafted height and just haven't updated.

Just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, here.

George Richards @GeorgeRichards
#FlaPanthers Jonathan Huberdeau says he will miss early part of training camp (hip) but says should play by end of preseason

Looks like they're being extra cautious with him

Since Weegar is 19 at the start of the season, he's eligible for juniors and as a result is ineligible for the AHL.

Yes he will be in his 19 year old season in the CHL when he returns. He could still play another year as a 20 year old.

The guy was playing Jr. A in Ontario after being passed over in the OHL draft twice, when Halifax signed him as a free agent, with the hopes he could give us some depth and chip in some offense as an 18 year old rookie. Right from the start, he had a calm presence and a smooth style and rarely made a mistake. He produced more than expected and most felt he was our 2nd best defenseman on a nightly basis. He led the entire league in +/-! While he was on a loaded team, that is still a big accomplishment.

He has late bloomer written all over him, and quite frankly I couldn`t believe he almost didn`t get picked in the NHL draft. He could be a HUGE steal for Florida. Great to see him confirming the beliefs of many by impressing and getting a main camp invite.

Anybody who got to see the prospect games,
what was the report on Liam Heelis?

I heard nothing about him while at camp - he didn't even play the first two games and Idk after that.

I've seen him play before though, and the kid does have natural talent, doesn't sound like it translates to the next level, but is he ever skilled.
