I will say that qe look better than rd 1 game 1 right now so that's a positive. We were frozen that game, wasn't it 3-0 after 1??

Teams not playing bad, Leafs look nervous and aren't clicking yet, not worried because they are a really good 2nd period team.

But KNIES... probably the first game the kid is actually looking like a kid. He just doesn't look ready today, his awareness is off compared to the Tampa games.... He also took way to long to get off the ice while coasting there almost lead to a chance against us.

If Knies is going to play the bumper spot he needs to be ready for the passes and loose pucks. I'm not going to rag on him too hard because that's suppose to be his strengths which is why I feel he's having an off night.

Just my 1st period impression so far. Also the Leafs need to start finishing their checks more.... It's working for Florida.

Or are the Leafs playing rope a dope knowing they going to tire out later in the game and knowing they didn't get much rest and are little Florida empty the tank.

These Leafs are not built to win a track meet - maybe the 2018-2022 Leafs were, but we all know they weren't actually built to win much. Need to play our game of solid d zone presence and heavy o zone possession. Don't give into Florida's trap of inviting us to a pond hockey game

We let that period turn into too much of a track meet.

Which, you know what, I kinda get. Compared to Tampa, playing Florida must feel like playing on an international ice surface. There is so much more space out there.

But while I think we can match Florida goal-for-goal, we're probably better off slowing it down and getting into a proper system. We should get our goals on this Florida D core. Whether we win this series is going to be a question if we can prevent them.

If the Leafs only had a powerplay half as good as the Oilers they'd be doing so much better and would be winning games so much easier.

So Tampa is levels above Florida in terms of structure and discipline. Leafs got roped into playing sloppy run and gun, but if they go back to playing their system they should be able to take care of the Panthers.
Keefe teams react slowly and never establish.

The quality of those chances? It could be 3-0 right now. Seen worse too but, c'mon!

If you want to count every chance it could be 4-4 now. We owned the first 10 minutes.

If you watched Florida - Boston this is very on brand Panthers. They play very close coverage in the ozone and attack passes very aggressively. Toronto needs to make an adjustment here.

Panthers run and gun. Wow seeing this compared to the structure and smothering defence that tampa plays is eye opening.

If they do this then our stars should light them up. Think we got too excited and opened things up too much for our D side a bit but once we settle it a bit then we should be good

Same game plan as Tampa where they are clogging the neutral zone.

Leafs gotta be better here.

His awareness is fine. He's just out of his element keeping up with matthews and nylander.

Nylander zone entry followed by Matthews pass had this guy scrambling, resorting to no-look shot with no idea where the rebound is LOL.

Both goalies played well in that period. With the quality of scoring chances Florida gives up the goals are coming for the Leafs.
