Pre-Game Talk: Panthers @ Leafs 7pm EST March 13th

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Hopefully with a good practice under their belts, Laughton and Carlo will feel a little more comfortable here, with their linemates, and our system.

Tanev coming back would be huge for us, we just can't keep running Myers and Benoit out there... Tanev has become such an important piece for us.

Hopefully we can take advantage of both Ekblad and Tkachuk being out of the lineup here, as these games against Florida down the stretch are critical. We've got Florida three more times this year, including this game, so that probably goes a long way in deciding the division.

Our play hasn't been great as of late, so we really need to step it up. We've got eight games left, against non-playoff teams, so our schedule is favourable, but we need to start to take advantage of this.

So what, we held on to Robertson - under the assumption he was putting together an NHL game:
- Improved defensive awareness
- Tenacious forecheck, puck retrieval
- Gritty checking and scrumming (Boston game is clear cut example of him getting dirty)
- Better shot generation, and xGF

YET we put him on the fourth line (to fail) and then scratch him two games in a row...

Not entirely sure whats the point here, we lack secondary scoring and outside of the top 4/6 we are lacking secondary scoring a lot.

Berube put Robbie in damnnit!

The Leafs are notorious for lacking the patience and for giving proper opportunities to their young players. This has been going on forever now

It doesn't feel like Tanev is playing tomorrow. Could be a game time decision but all year when the players don't take line rushes, they don't play the next game. I could be wrong but that's the memory/feeling I get.

It does feel like Berube really wants to give the lines a chance to blossom in some way. I like Jarnkrok playing a glue guy supportive role, he's good at it, but I do wish they'd give Robertson a good chance to play on the 2nd line.

The leafs will win the next three games, so I don't expect that we will see Robertson again for a while.

Going to need Stolarz at his absolute BEST tomorrow, I know people are going to counter with the defense n a game in hand a eeds to be better but the thing is the defense isn't at full strength and it won't be until Taneve gets back.

Until Tanev gets back and defense gets back to full strength we need the goaltending to step up which hasn't happened lately..

That needs to change tomorrow, if there was EVER a regular season game where Stolarz NEEDS to be Stolarz it's tomorrow.

A win in Regulation tomorrow and the Leafs are back in 1st due to having a game in hand.

Tomorrow's game is even bigger because if you can win it, particularly if you can win it in regulation the Panthers don't play between the 17th-20th.The Leafs play on the 17th and 19th.

So if the Utah game was the start of a run thaat would go A LONG way to winning the division

Just win.

Robertson-Matthews-Domi
McMann-Tavares-Marner
Knies-Laughton-Nylander
Lorentz-Kampf-Jarnkrok
/Holmberg

Just try it

Tomorrow is not the time for that

If we don't, will you agree to stop making predictions for the rest of this season, including the playoffs?
Hey, you can hold me to it if the Leafs don't win tomorrow night. You guys will all fret about this game, but it's an easy call. It's the exact type of game this Leafs team wins, because most people don't think they will.

You throw enough dookie at the wall, some is bound to stick.

I dont know how there hasnt been any experimentation on the lines this year.

Knies Matthews Domi
Robertson Tavares Marner
McMann Laughton Nylander
Lorentz Kampf Jankrok
Cause Batman n robin have to be together

They've tried for a long time to switch Nylander and Marner, or even Nylander to a lesser 5 on 5 role on the 3rd line. Berube tried the former through the season. They'll always go back to these pairings because they typically work. The top players have all contributed offensively very well in the last few games too. We're not losing or struggling because they are paired together.

The first line isnt doing enough to warrant no being split up and nylander and jt do not mesh the whole world can see that

Yeah, they've been fine and the solution should never be giving worse players more ice time(Domi, Robertson).

Pretty sure in years past, fans have complained about the fact Toronto switches around the lines too much under Keefe and they don't have any cohesion together.
