Makes sense, played well, back 2 back finals and a Cup. Current contract runs through 2026 so he can sign an extension this summer. 2 years, 12 million?

He's 37 in September.
He'd be 38 when this new deal kicks in.
Please be 3 years max, 6 million per?

Luongo must believe he still has a 1/4 tank of gas left. Been fairly durable here in Florida.

Hopeful he has a 50 game regular season limit going forward.
Need a decent goalie prospect of ours to graduate soon.
Unsure if Vanecek can be a stop gap for a year or two?

That contract is already expiring? Damn I remember when it was signed and thought it would never end but it has aged surprisingly well after a rocky start.

It expires after next season. This extension would be signed on July 1st, most likely, and will cover a couple of years starting in 2026.

More like 2 years 8 million IMO. Guy has made his money, if he wants to keep playing then he can take paycut.

dollars seem fine but that 3rd year is risky imo

i understand he is a cup champ but over the last 4 years his sv% fluctuates up and down a decent amount. I personally would give him a bit more money but cap the term at two years.

The only conclusion that could occur with having traded Knight away. I'm assuming Knight's agent asked about Florida's intentions for Bobrovsky, which is why he was traded.

They lost 10 years of Knight, so give him at least 6 years…
It’s tough to say goodbye to a 23 year old kid with a ton of potential to be a starter long term, it’s a hell of a gamble trading Knight away that’s for sure and riding an older goalie fir the next few years but I get they’re going to try for more cups and I suppose I can’t blame them? :dunno:

Florida, organizationally-speaking, needed a long-term top-4 RHD more than they needed Knight.

He's made some serious coin. If he wants another cup, he could really help them out by extending at a discount. I'd love to see that.

I'd even go up to 3 years at 5m. Vanacek as the backup next year and then hopefully we have someone ready to step in as the new backup/heir.
Hey Gizy, can you let us in on the secret? What does OP’s name mean? He said we can’t “handle” the truth for over a decade now

I'd be a bit worried signing an extension for his 38-40 years when you haven't seen his 37 year. And when his 36 year only has a .906 save percentage.
For what it's worth, his start to the season was much worse vs the start of 2025 and beyond.

.918 from January-now

.896 Oct-Dec

Team defense struggles didn't help Bob or Knight early on either.
