I don't know how it was obvious lol, you literally said "f*** Russia"I think it's fairly obvious I'm not talking about every person in the country. Are you serious with this?
You’d think that the organization would have done its due diligence prior to signing such an insanely rich contract. Let’s hope that’s the case and that this is all just a short term blip.
I think you should distinguish between the Russian people and their oppressive government IMO. Not everyone living their agrees with what is happening over there.
Alright fair enough lol this aint the hill I am dying onThose people you're referring to actually appreciate when the international community is honest about the tyranny they're living under.
Such words would not be considered an attack on the Russian people.
Did the Latvian police make a statement?Well the latvians are currently saying this is not true, so the only real source for this is someone clearly doing this for political reasons
Possible. Ultimately, authoritarian systems encourage this sort of thing, even passively. Though this looks very sloppy and unconvincing as of now, it just further cements the idea that criticizing him will cause you problems, even if you’re thought to be untouchable physically. I doubt he’d see it as a negativeSeems more likely, as others have suggested, to be politically motivated by the former coach and not Putin. In fact I can see Putin rolling his eyes at Nazarov and saying 'this is the best you can do?' lol
The club/hotel where this supposedly happened said its not true and highly doubt theres some secret police reports that no one in the nhl knew about for the last 5 yearsDid the Latvian police make a statement?
It could be envy as well. Nazarov never played at the Panarin's level. Politics (from both sides) are just a way to cover or exacerbate things up.
Georgie literally punched DeAngelo straight onto waivers. I love it."Lundquist"
"Georgiev punching Tony D in the face moving him to waivers"
Classic.
Stepanova? Really? She makes money out of it.Zadorov comes to mind. It's important to not that Russian hockey players who earn the NHL have a lot less to lose when they criticism the current government. They are much less vulnerable to possible retaliations. Yulia Stepanova, though, is a dissenter who had to risk a lot.
Josh Hennessy describes the Vityaz owners as stereotypical Russian gangster types, and he talks a bit about Panarin in his Spittin Chiclets interview too, but he wasn't on the 2011 teamI was wondering if Panarin who came from a poor background even had 40,000 euros to bribe people with, unless someone paid on his behalf.
I agree. I was sarcastic in my previous post, but I didn't include a specific emoti.Even in the US, being an "important person" grants you privileges that others would never enjoy. Seemingly every year, there's some scandal involving college athletes, many of whom aren't even big-time players, and the favorable treatment they receive from local police jurisdictions. Their crimes being covered up, or never investigated, or receiving punishments that the average person could never dream of in their leniency. It's not necessarily an indictment of police but of society and their priorities, and the fascination with power and influence. I imagine this is as true in Russia, Latvia, the EU, anywhere, as it is here in North America.

Surprised how quickly the Rangers are refuting the allegations. By their own admission, they don't even know the source. It's one thing to put a player on leave while the team conducts its own internal investigation. But that's not what the Rangers are doing here.
Gotcha. The club/hotel where this supposedly happened said its not true and highly doubt theres some secret police reports that no one in the nhl knew about for the last 5 years
Pure conjecture on my part, but I'm sure there's more to the story that we don't know. Andrei Nazarov shooting his mouth off in Russia wouldn't scare Panarin enough to leave the team. I'm guessing that something else has been communicated privately, perhaps indirectly.Surprised how quickly the Rangers are refuting the allegations.
