If you know of anyone who can snipe like him please speak up.

This team desperately needs some scoring
That's why I said that he is a FANTASTIC hockey player earlier. I love him as a player, and I don't care about his political preference.

You call yourself a hockey fan? Do you even have a remote clue as to how much the Russians covet their professional atheletes? Artemi Panarin may be a relative unknown here in the United States but I can guarantee you that Artemi Panarin is a one of their higher profile national athletes, and the Russian love to love their best athletes........unitl the show dissent to mother Russia that is...

Yup, go to Russian biggest sports platform SPORTS.RU and do a search for “Panarin”.

Edge has been eerily absent the last few days...
Edge is......Panarin?!

waiting before I pass judgement onm something that happened 10 years ago

we can not talk a certain subject here but I have been to Russia many times in the last 20 years (joy of living in Europe) and I can tell you--nothing is ever cut and dry and everyone has an agenda--so keep that it mind
If players were held accountable for something that happen 10 years ago there would only be about 50% of the NFL players playing right now.

In addition, I've not held back any punches calling out management for their handling of several things lately.

I have no problem whatsoever with what they are doing here (from my limited view of things at least). Let Panarin gather his thoughts and focus on what is important. Gather more info on the situation. We have connections in Russia. There were plenty of players on that Riga team. This was surely something that was talked about "on the bus". Nic Tarnasky was on that team, he was two years in HFD. I am sure someone in the organization got his phone number. Call him up, lol Tanner Glass surely knows him, they were vet AHL teammates with similar backgrounds in HFD. What was the talk in the room about what happened? Kip Brennan, Jeremy Jablonski, Jon Mirasty, Mat Dalton are NA players on that team. Somebody will know somebody. Sergei Gonchar played on that team, would he stand up for Panarin?

If our org can just get a lay of the land and collected indications that it wasn't a big deal, I am sure they can put an end to this effectively and move on. That should stop the story, instead of having something brewing in the background.

If OTOH indications hypothetically would be that it was something really serious. Like if Panarin kicked the heck out of some poor girl, they can handle that too. Make sure it doesn't happen again. That he gets help. Etc.

Assuming this is a fabricated story, one positive outcome on the hockey side of things is this could possibly galvanize the locker room with everyone showing support for Panarin when he comes back and there's more of a "play for eachother" type of atmosphere in the locker room.

Panarin a large figure in Russia? Are you kidding me? Calling him a large figure in Russia makes no sense. People outside of the sports world might not even know about him. Please.
Nonsense. He's the only athlete in Russia who is publicly critical of Putin's regime and supports Navalny. That takes some balls and makes him a target.
Nazarov is Putin's sycophant and is always trashing USA and EU as evil enemies of great Putin and Russia. I don't know whether Panarin beat that girl or not but you need to be completely delusional to think that Nazarov's statements now have nothing to do with Panarin's political stance.

This happened with the last incident and we got one whole win out of it.

Yes, I am a hockey fan, and have been for a while. I will refrain from asking you the same question though. It would be rude on my part.

I agree that the Russians love big sports stars, but I disagree that Panarin is a very large and universally-known star there.

I personally don't think, Nazarov invented the story. The fact of matter, it's actually nothing by Russian standarts. I mean, I watched a video a couple months ago about a dude, who killed 3 girls in a car crash being drunk. They didn't even arrest him, because "he was injured and recovering from injures", and that dude lived at his home and went to night clubs every day. What a couple of punches are comparing to this?

This story targets Americans, because you know, how is it there nowadays...

Hopefully this wont go to far off side

But the fact this happened in Latvia and the players comments about politics in his native land--I smell something fishy

Latvia is now sole host for the world championships due to safety, security and corruption allegations in Belarus. Russia wanted the games moved to Russia and were not happy they were given to Lativa as sole hosts.

There is more going on then what we know about I think

ANY RUSSIAN OLYMPIC TEAM HOPEFULL WHO COMES OUT IN SUPPORT OF ARTEMI IS OFF THE OLYMPIC TEAM.

*crickets*.

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT

Jokes aside, many former teamates/players might support Artemi but only 'off the record', which should be fine for the Rangers PR team.

This happened with the last incident and we got one whole win out of it.
I'd like to think that was kinda different though, since it involved two of their own teammates so there couldn't have been a sense of "dont mess with my teammate, we got your back dont worry", as it would look like they were choosing sides had they decided to get involved.

According to Nazarov, it happened in Latvia and officials were paid 40,000 to cover it up. What proof is going to exist either way? It's he said/she said unless police in Riga retained some kind of paperwork--but even then, that can easily be fabricated.
If there were a police report from 2011 in Latvia, we would have heard about it a long time ago. Latvia at that time was already pretty much a part of western civilization, same as it is today.

It's is plausible though, that the victim and potential witnesses could be paid off, before the police got involved. That is the part of the story that has me a bit worried, because that is exactly what probably would have happened, if the story is true.
