The Rangers, save for their lottery luck the past two drafts, have been on a really bad run in the past year.

They're rolling last February and March, then COVID hits. Just before that, the car accident with Shesterkin and Buchnevich.

Kakko and Lafreniere slow out of the gate.

Zibanejad getting COVID and stumbling out of the gate.

DeAngelo gate.

Trouba and Chytil injuries.

Now this.

Whatever is going on, I hope that the Panarin family stay safe and are able to get out of Russia.

Throw in the Andersson and Kravstov messes.

We really don't know but still 10 years ago and it's coming out now at this time when Putin and his regime is under pressure and Artemi's been a vocal critic. It seems really f***ing odd to me and particularly knowing the lengths that Putin and his regime will go to to silence their critics. I hope Artemi doesn't go back to Russia because I wouldn't be surprised if they arrested him on some bullshit trumped up charges.

McDonald's badge is actually a Glen Sather horcrux.

No I wouldn’t cause I don’t deal with that on a regular basis. I wouldn’t speak about nonsense like doing background checks on the young players to see if there are other potential problems for the future (like you said earlier). But it’s ok I’ll clearly never be as intelligent as you.

Great, i can differ between a joke and a sports background check . . . which is a bit different than the lab results and a few good references. Regardless, it was a joke and pertained to contract extensions (one of the latest is suspended from the team). Glad you chimed in. Thanks.

No, he is not very bright. I speak Russian fluently, and I watched multiple interviews of Panarin. It's not a knock on him. Really. He grew up in a village and was raised by his grandpa, but nevertheless, he has already achieved more than 99% of HFBoards posters thanks to his athletic prowess. Kudos to him.

I highly doubt that Panarin even ever thought about being a political target. And honestly, I don't think that he even gives a f*** about it. His mind has been preoccupied with hockey. After the dust settles, maybe he'll think a bit before saying (or doing) something. For now, I presume, he will be communicating mainly through written statements (not written by him obviously).

It's your right to think of the Putin and Navalny comparison as a false equivalence. I hold a different view. Time will tell who was more right.
How would such a large figure supporting the Opposition leader not make him a target, that makes no sense.

I see the blogs are already spreading misinformation saying "Panarin was not with the team on that day" which is incorrect.

Gotta love the urge to be "first".

A few thoughts:

(a) I can of course not rule anything out, but this definitely sounds like it could be some actual incident that is blown way out of proportion.

(b) Heck, a fight with a girl at a night club doesn't even have to be criminal or worse than if it was a smaller brawl with a guy. People can go crazy when under the influence.

Domestic violence is something else. An aggravated assault of a defenseless girl at a night club is something else.

(c) I think it should be understood that these processes in Russia are not (always) organized, well executed, revenge attacks against supporters of the opposition architected at the top. Its more of a low intensity, broad mass bullying. There are only 1 Putin and quite many supporters of the opposition.

I think its very easy to lose perspective of Russian affairs in this perspective. If you have ambitions on one side, and deliver a punch to the other side, its a feather in the hat. To 99% certainty, this is what this is about. I don't really buy the wording in NYR's PC. But OTOH, others could follow suit. Oh, what happened in Latvia? Can he be punished in Russia for that? Maybe a prosecutor opens a investigation. Just picking him up for a hearing the next time he lands in Russia is enough, more headlines. More feathers in hats. Its not like there is any risk of his grandma hanging from a bridge like if she had been fighting the cartel.

waiting before I pass judgement onm something that happened 10 years ago

we can not talk a certain subject here but I have been to Russia many times in the last 20 years (joy of living in Europe) and I can tell you--nothing is ever cut and dry and everyone has an agenda--so keep that it mind

Weird. Would think Putin would have bigger fish to fry. And responding like this--if instigated by Putin-- shines more of a light on Panarin's criticism.

Everytime I hear the team or fans say "we just need some bounces to go our way" ....we won 2 lotteries in a row. We've shot our shots.

None of this information is reliable enough that it should be acted upon one way or the other.

It's time for our journalists to do their job and investigate. Considering the source(s) and Panarin's criticism of Putin I don't see how anyone takes this without a huge grain of salt.
